Why Eat Organic Foods?
Well, organic is just regular food, the way mother nature intended. It actually tastes BETTER than "regular" food. That is why a lot of chef's prefer using it in their kitchens. We have grown so dependent on artificial fillers and additives as well as pesticides that we are very literally, killing ourselves.
We are all trying to better our lifestyles, but we are bombarded with advertising and mis-information every day, and most of us don't have time to clean the house or wash the car, let alone time to research what we are putting in our mouths.
The reason we can't get weight off or stay healthy despite our best efforts eating non-organic is that our body is trying and trying to process the foreign substances and toxins taken in with food and get them out of our body, but after years and years of intake, these substances wear and tear on your organs and body systems. The hormones in foods make girls and boys mature more rapidly. Girls are getting periods earlier, children are becoming overweight and obese younger, and we are all suffering from deadly diseases earlier.
We all know that we should change, we all want to change, and we usually can't stand those who have changed. Change is difficult, change takes time, and being different is no fun, BUT let me share the benefits of my change with you.
My Organic Experience
I'm definitely not an organic foods expert. I am a normal person who eats organic food. I have been doing this for about a year now. I wanted to share my experience and the little knowledge I have with those who may be interested in knowing more about organic foods. My husband started the organic trend in our house. He was tired of being overweight and trying all different ways to lose weight. He decided to go organic after reading about how the toxic pesticides in fruits & veggies and additives in the food we eat make it nearly impossible to lose weight, even with a moderate to healthy diet and exercise.
My husband started eating organic only, didn't exercise, or change anything other than the food he ate. He lost 40 pounds in about 6 months. He wanted me to try organics, and I was hesitant at first, but over a period of a few months we transitioned all of our staple foods and regular foods to organic.
I lost about 15 pounds eating organics, and my health benefits were overwhelming. Less than a year prior I had high cholesterol (I am 32), anemia, borderline hyperthyroidism, and Irritble Bowel Syndrome. When I went for my check up this year, nothing negative showed up. My good cholesterol was high and bad cholesterol was normal, this is something I haven't acheived since I was in college.
Do something really good for yourself and your family, incorporae 1-2 organic items into your groceries this week and lay off 1-2 latte's or fast food runs. You don't have to dive in all at once. Every little bit helps you and your family live a more healthful life.

I love the local farmers market during the summer. Cheap produce, and great quality. Plus, it's awesome talking to the farmers!
During the winter, it's much harder to afford, but I do it when possible.

What's the Deal with Organic Foods? Part 1
Nutrition by Natalie What is the difference between organic food and conventional food? Is organic really more healthy for you? The USDA lays out certain guidelines that farms have to follow in order to be able to claim the food is organic. In this video Natalie discusses what each of those guidelines are. What is surprising to learn is some of the growing practices of conventional farming and food processing. As an example, chemical plants and waste water treatment facilities will actually sell their toxic waist to conventional farms to use for fertilizer. What you eat is an important part of health and nutrition.
