How I organize myself

Why should you care about how I organize myself? Well, maybe hearing about what I do will help you get a few ideas?. Here's how I made myself some space with a substitute laptop desk.

My Laptop Desk

While I do have a real desk, it is used mostly by my desktop. However my main computer is my laptop! So my solution?

Cart while computer not in use

Cart while computer in use

I put a drawer cart by the wall near my bed. Since the cart has wheels all I have to do is pull it and it comes to me.

What's with the yellow writepad?
Well sometimes I need to write things. However I also need a space for my mouse. So my solution: Find something that could let me write AND use the mouse. I've found that legal pads (aka yellow writepad) are just as good as mousepads. So I can use my mouse when need be, and I can write when inspiration comes.

What Goes in the cart.
Well obviously since this is my laptop "desk" , the drawers should only have things that pertain to my laptop right?

So:
*Drawer 1 - Writing Inspiration. This includes newspapers, spare notebooks, a few pens, some magazines, old school notes, etc..

*Drawer 2 - Sales & Memos. I do ebay on my laptop so obviously I need a drawer where I keep an inventory. The "memos" part are really statistics. From my blog 's advertising stats to homework stats (I do have online homework). Also , since there's space, I put tools I only use on my laptop such as my USB flash drive, my headphones, and my digital camera's accessories.

*Drawer 3:Unused Items. These are items I do plan to use, but not very often. These could be: newspapers that haven't been clipped yet, work for a project I don't plan to start soon, and leftover notebooks.

My External Hardware Cart

Some of you may have noticed the printer from the previous pictures.

I've conveniently located my printer and my speakers on their own cart. Why? Because I use them for two computers! So they need to be in the middle of them.

Of course that cart has three drawers as well and here are their duties.

What Goes In The Cart

*First Drawer: Items that don't fit in my beauty cart. If you've noticed the gray cart, that's my beauty cart. Unfortunately some of my items don't fit in those small drawers.

*Second Drawer: My education drawer. Textbooks, printer paper, official school documents, etc...

*Third Drawer: Items on sale. While I do have a drawer for ebay on my laptop Cart, it merely contains written things (dates, fees, prices, descriptions, etc...). The actual currently-on-sale items are held in this drawer.

How do I remember what each drawer is for?
I use labels. However, they're not premade labels. Actually, they're just pieces of white paper that were cut into rectangles and then taped on. Why didn't I use pre-made labels? Because you have to stick those on the outside of the drawer.

I wanted my labels on the inside because my cat likes to scratch off labels from things (so he can lick the glue from the tape).

Nice work. It feels good to express ourself doesn't it even in matters like self-organization. The realization of how we do things is the start of improving life quality.
