Hi. *waves*

I'm Kimberly, your Community Organizer here on Squidoo!

As the Community Organizer, I'm a lot like the cruise director on the wild and wonderful LMM (Lens Making Machine) Squidoo. I organize contests and special groups of users to work on promotional and educational projects. I make sure the word gets out about important issues, help lensmasters learn how to use Squidoo, and promote good sharing of resources. Aren't you just feeling all the love?

It's a lot of hats to wear, but it's all in good fun! Learn more about each of these areas on Squidoo and find out how you can get involved.

The Messaging Hat

Blogs, Newsletters, Forum, Emails...

How do we get the word out?

Ah, words. They're everywhere. Don't you ever feel like they're attacking you? It's a conspiracy, methinks.

On Squidoo, there are a ton of places to find information. There are the Terms of Service and the Frequently Asked Questions, and the SquidBlog and Official Squidoo lenses. Lensmasters are always chatting over at the SquidU Forum. We're even popular at Work.com!

But seriously, I work hard to make sure lensmasters have plenty of options for learning about what's out there and getting help when they need it.

So when you're reading something around Squidoo, chances are I wrote it. (Unless it's REALLY good, then that'd be Megan!)

The Help Desk Hat

Learn where to get help!

Everybody needs some help sometimes

Squidoo has a help system like none other. Not only can you find answers from official lenses on Squidoo, you can get tips and ideas from thousands of dedicated lensmasters who have put together videos, PDFs, lenses, blogs, and chatrooms just for talking about Squidoo. If you haven't seen it already, stop by The Answer Deck.

The number one place lensmasters look first for answers? Our SquidU Forum . Based on the questions you ask and your feedback I create lenses with FAQs and answers and videos and examples.

While SquidStaffers can't take questions directly through email, Facebook, Twitter, etc., there are two major places to find help. If you're having problems you think another lensmaster can help with, (ie. it isn't a glitch), search for it or ask on our forum. If your problem is technical in nature, file a bug report.

The Health Hat

Squid Community Health

Angels keep Squidoo healthy?

How? By helping the best lenses get a little boost. Lensmasters who put the right effort into their lenses get the best results, and all that stuff we don't like to see (spam and junk) falls to the bottom.

The Charity Hat

Charities and non-profits ARE my bag, baby!

How we roll with charity

Squidoo's mission revolves around charity. Not only do we help and encourage you to send your commissions to the non-profit of your choice, we give 5% of everything we make - off the top - to charity. Yup. We GIVE first. Then we get paid.

We also accept applications for US-based 501(c)(3) organizations to become "officially" sponsored charities. This gives them the opportunity to get volunteers to create lenses for them, and have all the royalties from those lenses automatically sent to them. We also have a Donations Module that allows donors to send donations directly to these charities - we don't even see the money! Both are simple ways to generate $0.50 here and $2 there, adding up to thousands of dollars each year.

What non-profit experience do I have?

I've seen how charities and non-profits work on several levels, from local community run day-care centers to national support services. It's been a great experience, and it's helpful to understand how each of these work.
  1. Former Executive Director of United Way of Taylor County.
  2. Served on board of directors for Jaycees, Kiwanis, and school board.
  3. Served as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and rescue technician.
  4. Participated in several childrens' and educational committees.

The NEW charity on Squidoo

Giving shouldn't be boring. Squidoo gives you plenty of ways to make it fun!
