Hi. *waves*
As the Community Organizer, I look after the health and spirit of the community. I make sure the word gets out about important issues, help lensmasters learn how to use Squidoo, and promote good sharing of resources. I also organize contests and special groups of users to work on promotional and educational projects. Aren't you just feeling all the love?
As the Charity Organizer, I work with our non-profit partners and lensmasters to promote lensbuilding, charity development, and of course, to raise money for our favorite do-gooders so they can do more good.
That's a lot of hats to wear! Keep reading to find out more about each of these areas, and how you can get involved.
The Charity Hat

Charities and non-profits ARE my bag, baby!
How we roll with charity
Squidoo's mission revolves around charity. Not only do we help and encourage you to send your commissions to the non-profit of your choice, we give 5% of everything we make - off the top - to charity. Yup. We GIVE first. Then we get paid.
We also accept applications for US-based 501(c)(3) organizations to become "officially" sponsored charities. This gives them the opportunity to get volunteers to create lenses for them, and have all the royalties from those lenses automatically sent to them. We also have a Donations Module that allows donors to send donations directly to these charities - we don't even see the money! Both are simple ways to generate $0.50 here and $2 there, adding up to thousands of dollars each year.
What non-profit experience do I have?
- Former Executive Director of United Way of Taylor County.
- Served on board of directors for Jaycees, Kiwanis, and school board.
- Served as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and rescue technician.
- Participated in several childrens' and educational committees.

The Help Desk Hat

You ask? I answer!
Everybody needs some help sometimes
My job in the help desk area is to identify common problems and make solutions available. I keep an eye on the forum and direct lensmasters to helpful lenses, or to our Citizen Mentors. I create lenses with FAQs and answers. And I manage groups of users who take your questions to heart.
I can't, at this time, take questions directly through email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. If you're having problems you think another lensmaster can help with, search for it or ask on our forum. If your problem is technical in nature, file a bug report.
Your Citizen Mentors
The Citizen Squids started out as a group of users who tested new stuff and got some cool perks for it. Now they're a group of veteran lensmasters who donate their time to helping others on Squidoo. Who are these awesome people? Some helpful lenses to browse through

I think so, too. I believe empathy will grow due to the new economic situations people find themselves in. Those that have not come upon hard times, might find themselves being a little more compassionate then perhaps they have been in the past. Most people know someone, friend or family, that has fallen on hard times through no fault of their own.

We will finish off Brest Cancer in my lifetime (I will turn 60 at the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day this year)
