Practical examples of getting organized room by room

Time is not a setback to keeping an organized life. You do not need to do big, unrealistic tasks to get started.

Try organizing one area of your life at a time. Small steps are more realistic to accomplish. Most of all try to find some help from your loved ones.

How to Arrange Your Bathroom:

In order to organize your counter-top clutter, buy a plastic container that has a handle above it. Put all of your ornaments in the container and lay it under the counter.

Keep your cosmetics and small accessories in a drawer organizer so that they can be easy to find when you need them.

If you wish to arrange your shower, get shower racks where you can put your shampoos and other bath items. You can find these at department stores. They have various styles offered at reasonable prices.

Place scissors and metal objects in a magnet that is mounted on your medicine cabinet to keep them together and easily get it when needed.

Place an attractive magazine holder where you can put your reading materials whenever you need to pass time.

Mount hooks on the back of your lavatory door or wall for towels and shower robes that you are using.

Dispose of items that are not used anymore, such as make-up, old shavers, expired prescription drugs, and cologne.

Place an overhead cabinet above the toilet for keeping extra towels, washcloths, and other toiletries.

If you do not have enough legroom in your bathroom dresser for your towels, roll the towel up and place them in attractive holders that are near the bathtub or shower. You can also use ribbons to keep them rolled up.

To keep your shower door spotless, purchase a water squeegee (like the ones you use on your windows) and place it in the shower.

First start to clear the clutter:

To succeed in organizing your home and your life, you need to remove the clutter that distracts you and take so much time to work around.

Managing your Cabinet or Wardrobe:

Place storage bins in your cabinet for soiled clothes and for dry cleaning so that you can easily identify each them item when you wash them.

Arrange your garments and other items that you do not use, such as old belts or shoes, and donate them to a local charity. These comprise old clothes, which you do not wear anymore because they are either out-of-style or they no longer fit.

Classify your clothes by season. If you have a tall closet with several compartments, place in-season clothes on the lowest level for easy access. Then, place out of season clothes on the tallest rods.

Also, group your clothes according to their function, for instance work attire, evening dresses, and party clothes.

To organise your accessories: Place your scarves on a hanger or scarf rack to prevent then from wrinkling. You can also hang belts and ties on hangers or racks.

Solve your junk problems, Unclutter!

It is never too late to start anew. What better time to begin getting rid of all those unnecessary things in your precious home but now! Embark on a new season with the promise of a lifestyle free from clutter. The following are a few basic steps toward a house and home that is simple and clutter free

Why do you need to unclutter? Because clutter causes your energy to decrease as well as for you to feel stuck. But the most practical of all reasons is that it is so difficult to look for things when there are a lot of other things hampering your search. Take all the clutter away!

Start slowly but surely. Clean each room in a systematic manner. You can begin by taking away any object that does not in any way belong in that particular room. Also, if there are any objects you no longer find a use for, box them away and donate them to charity.

One way to look at uncluttering is that you are not throwing your stuff away. You are merely gathering them to give to someone who will appreciate them just as well.

Deep clean your drawers and cabinets. Especially the kitchen drawers. These places are the usual dumping ground for anything and everything that could fit in that boxed space. If you find it stressful to go through each one in a single swoop, do so in increments. If you have that weekend off from work, take at least thirty minutes of that day to evaluate and organize the insides of one cabinet.

Then in another of your weekend offs, clean another one, and another one for the next weekend. You will find your drawers seemingly taking care of uncluttering themselves.

Unclutter your closets. Clothes that you have in them probably date back from high school up until college. Guess what? You are not the same person you were back then. Fashion has changed, time has changed and hopefully so does your style.

Your weight may have increased or decreased. Take away clothes you have not used for the past two or three years and make room for the clothes that reflect what you are now.

Unclutter your shelves. If there are some books in your personal library that you can now easily part with, then take them off the shelf.

Go through your stack of books that you think you might never read or pick up again and donate them to charity or to schools. There is always space for new books and a lot of space for books you would want to give to other people's library shelves.

I found her approach of taking small amounts of time to incorporate little ideas very useful in my hectic life.

I don't have days to set aside for an all-at-once overhaul, being a mom dealing with an out-of-house job, kids' sports on weekends, etc., but I can find a little time each day to incorporate one or two of the 500 ideas into my system.

I read through with sticky note tabs in hand to mark ideas I wanted to incorporate, and one by one they are making a real difference. "Sandy"

Some tips in organizing your office

Does your office look like it has never been cleaned or organized for ages and ages?

Do you feel embarrassed when someone goes into your office and sees all the clutter and mess there? Do not worry.

Here are some tips to help you clean your office, making it organized and clean, not to mention pleasant to look at.

1. Your desk drawers should be cleaned. Take out the unnecessary and outdated files. Free up more storage space.

2. The top of your desk should be cleared off. Wipe off the surface with a damp towel and a cleaner. You probably have forgotten how clean your desk used to be and would be surprised to see it is now clean and orderly.

3. On your desktop, delete all unnecessary items. Keep only the most essential items such as the computer, the phone, or the fax.

4. If this works for you, try creating "in" and "out" boxes for all the persons you have been working with.

5. Do a short quick list of the things that you will be doing every day at your office, preferably, on or near your desk.

6. Your mail could be sorted into "To-Read," "To-Answer," "To-File," or "To-Contact."

7. Use containers for organizing paper clips, office supplies, and pens.

8. Using trays or desktop organizers for arranging the papers across the desk is helpful.

9. There should be a separate office drawer for personal items and miscellaneous paperwork, among others.

10. If you have many dated files, use similar storage boxes to keep items organized and tidy. Label them if you want for easier access when you need the files in the future.

11. Buy magazine boxes for storing publications like magazines, booklets, or catalogs that you intend to keep.

12. Create a file for magazine articles or scan them into your computer.

13. Your system for filing should be simple, manageable, and easy.

14. Your files should be color-coded, making it faster and easier for you to find files.

15. Folders should not be overstuffed. It may take you longer to find something informative in the folders.

16. Do not overload your filing drawers. It will take you more time to access information in your drawers.

17. Larger files should be divided into smaller subfolders.

18. Remove files in your workspace except the files you are working on in order to avoid distractions in your work.

How to Organize Your Kitchen

You may think that it is an easy task to organize a kitchen. You may realize that it can also be difficult to do tasks in the kitchen if it is not organized. You must set steps and routines for you to follow and have an easy time working in your kitchen.

Here are some pointers that you may use in organizing your kitchen:

1. You must keep your kitchen clean for you to work conveniently and free from any time consuming activities before you cook. Discard any items that you will not use and place them in a place where you can locate them easier when the time comes that you will need their use.

2. If there are medicines, spices, or food that have already met their expiration, you can put them in the trash or discard those things immediately.

3. Store cooking utensils, pots, and pans in an area near to where the stove is placed. You can congest the cooking materials for you to have more space in cooking.

4. If there are large materials and cooking utensils that are seldom used in the kitchen, you may want to remove them and place them in a cupboard. There are even appliances that are not used in your everyday cooking. You may consider adding to your kitchen an appliance barn. This can store your juicers, toasters, blenders, and other appliances on the countertop with order and arrangement.

5. Place the silverwares and dishes close to your dining area. It can be accessible for you to get these items when you are about to eat. You may need silverware holders and racks to have more space.

6. You have to be aware of the materials or tools that are reachable by your children such as knives, cleaning chemicals, and alcohol. Keep them in high places where they cannot be reached.

7. You may use a bulletin board or the refrigerator to stick or hang reminders and schedules. These can help you to have an enjoyable and organized time in the kitchen. Designate spots for your mail and bills and check them out everyday.

8. Always keep you refrigerator clean and neat both inside and outside. If you see mystery foods, discard them at once. Sometimes there are unknown items that are placed in the refrigerator.

9. If you are through with the kitchen, you must check everything before you leave the kitchen. Do not forget to turn off the lights and the ceiling fan and everything that you used with electricity. The key to an organized kitchen is maintenance.
