Origami Quilting

Now you can create beautiful origami quilt images by learning about Origami Quilting. Using a variety of beautiful papers and colors you can show off your Origami Quilting patterns for display. I've framed many pieces and given them away as great gifts.

I Fell In Love With Origami Quilting

I have only seen Tomoko Fuse design quilting. When I met her several years ago she talked to me about the forms she was creating for this quilting. I was very excited, and was one of the first in line (in North America) to get her Origami Quilting book. Of course mine is all in Japanese, so I have to figure it out just by the pictures. But I have created some beautiful pieces that I have framed and given as gifts.

I am currently working on a larger quilt from her designs, and so far it is about 13" x 18".

This quilting is so beautiful, and using exquisite paper you can create little treasures that look beautiful for card making, or even scrapbooking. They lay nice and flat.

Crosses & Squares - by Tomoko Fuse

This set of folds I've spent most of my time working on, and are the basis for the larger quilt that I've started. Often it's hard to decide which will be the "good" side or the "bad" side, because they both look so great.

I've recently done some more with better paper, so I've updated the picture here...don't worry, more to come still.

Square Window - by Tomoko Fuse

I just started this one, but need to do a bit more work on it. The light colors seem a bit tentative, so perhaps I should go back and try it in more vibrant shades.

Four Petaled Flowers - by Tomoko Fuse

Finally took some time to sit down and do some more of this fold. The petals turn out so nice and flat, and really very simple to fold. I still think they are beautiful just on their own.

Origami Quilting - by Tomoko Fuse

This is a rare book to find. Not only does Tomoko show you the basic folds for the quilting, but she instructs you how to combine them in many different ways. She takes a break from traditional origami and shows you some models that start with a triangle, pentagon, and hexagon.

If you collect books this is a good one!

Beautiful. And of course I am going to check out the quilting technique. There is a book about rings, as well by Tomoko Fuse called Origami Rings and Wreaths. Thank you for talking about paper folding. I love boxes. There is so much to explore with this art.

I better get off the computer and get folding or I won't get to try it all.

Origami Boxes
The first origami model I folded was an origami box. Certainly not the easiest thing to fold for a first-timer, but after that first box I was hooked. I've been folding now for about 16 years, and my favorite is still by far the origami box. I've given gifts in them, given them as gifts, and have se
Origami Units
Unit Origami is a favorite set of folds for me. Based in Mathematics, unit origami is precise and logical. Tomoko Fuse is a great creator of wonderous units. Her book Unit Origami was the first one I ever purchased. I have taught some of these forms to Jr. High school students and they have enjoyed
Origami Animals
When people think of origami, the first model that generally comes to mind is the crane. Regarded as the icon of the craft, the crane has a background routed in Japanese culture and history. When learning origami, it is easiest to start with animals. One piece of paper manipulated into a recognizable
Origami Airplanes
Do you want to upgrade your paper airplane from school-boy to phenomenal?Origami airplanes take the standard paper airplane that we all learn to fold and and take it to the next degree. Create planes that glide and fly, planes that don't fly but look real cool. It's great to make a project and then
Origami Forms
There are many different projects you can create with origami. Some of these forms are just beautiful to look at, and some are actually toys you can play with. Other shapes like stars or flowers are popular. The ideas are endless. Here you can take a look at some creations that may inspire you.
Teabag Folding
I found this site about teabag folding. It is wonderful. Very much like origami, if you like the flat quilt-like patterns of this page then you will love what she has to offer. When you go to her site also take a look at her Teabag Folding #2 site also.
