Original Watercolor Paintings: Affordable Original Art for Sale

Not far from Bucks County, Pennsylvania a hotbed of watercolor painters, there is a new little-known talent who has produced some breathtaking watercolor paintings that I'd like to share with you. Because she is a new artist, selling her paintings for less than 3 years, you can still get an original watercolor painting from her at an affordable price.

On this web page I will reveal five reasons that I love this original watercolor painting collection. The specific$ of what I consider affordable, the artists name, where to get more information and one surprise fact. Get ready to ooohhh and aaahhhhh..... Here we go.

Reason 1 I Love these Watercolor Paintings

Strong Colors

A lot of watercolor paintings look kind of washed out to me. To many people that soft look is what they like about watercolor. But I like RICH colors. The Magnolia Splash painting shown above is one example, and here is another, Poppies on Fire - one of her brightest works!

Reason 2 I Love these Watercolor Paintings

Lights, Shadows, Depth

In my drawing career (I mean the required art class in eighth grade), the point of adding shadows was to make your subject a bit more three-dimensional and realistic.

While you will see that effect, the lights and shadows in these paintings play with the viewer. They practically dance across the painting and back again.

Ta-DA!!! They shout!

Reason 3 I Love these Watercolor Paintings

Amazing Detail and Realism

Most watercolor paintings are a bit on the vague side if you ask me. The world of watercolor is usually soft and hazy as though the world was perpetually at dawn and dusk.

But take a look at the detail in some of these paintings. This Old Saun Jaun is a good example with the patio grating and the contrasting color window trim.

Reason 4 I Love these Watercolor Paintings

Beautiful Settings and Subjects

Okay.. yes, she did once upon a time paint a bowl of fruit, but all the recent paintings are places I'd like to go to, things I'd like to see, sights I'd like to savor.. Here is one of her mini's. This particular watercolor is only 7 and a half inches by five.

Oh and speaking of small, that brings me to what do I mean by affordable. To me affordable for original artwork is less than $1000 and at the time of posting, I believe all of these original watercolors fall into that price range. Since an artist's work does usually appreciate in value as their reputation grows, I can't actually quote you prices. In fact you won't find prices on the artist's website either, just contact information.

I will let you in on one secret, if your favorite painting is sold, it may be possible to get a limited edition print. I know you had your heart set on an original watercolor painting, and maybe you can still get one as she is painting up a storm. Which brings me to....

Reason 5 I Love these Watercolor Paintings

The artist is my big sister.

Yes, I am the proud baby sister. I can't paint or draw worth a dime.... seems big sis sucked up all the artistic chromosomes on her way through the womb ahead of me.

The funny thing is Margaret, took an art class in high school and created a gorgeous batik -- primarily flowers and plants. She "loaned" it to me many moons ago, first to cover boring white college dorm walls, then to cover boring beige corporate walls. During the years that I had it displayed, people would ask me about it and I'd explain my sister had made it as a high school student and can you believe that she didn't continue painting.

I don't really know when she got the bug to do more painting. I think it was when she lived in Japan for a few years. But it was only after their kids went off to college that she seemed to get really serious about it. And now, every time I check out her website, I just about fall off my chair. I know I'm biased, but I think her paintings are amazing, GORGEOUS. And based on the fact that she has been accepted to display in art shows so soon after beginning, I guess other folks think so too.
