The Cookie Diet has been featured on ABC's Good Morning America, FOX News, CNN, Woman's World, The New York Post and many other media outlets!

"It's no secret that to burn fat, you have to eat less calories than your body requires," according to Dr. Sanford Siegal. "That's hard to do when you're hungry. That's what my cookie is for. The cookie is hunger-suppressing and is therefore adaptable to a variety of diets."

The idea of eating cookies as a diet was all it took to try Dr. Sanford Siegal's Cookie Diet cookies, as they sounded delectable enough. Thing is, this isn't your everyday, ordinary cookie. The Miami doctor created the cookies in 1975 in his kitchen and introduced them to his diet patients to help curb hunger cravings. According to Siegal, the cookies work because they suppress hunger for longer than most "diet" foods.

The diet also works because the greatest obstacle to losing weight is that most diets don't have fast results.  You feel as though you have worked and worked and starved yourself and haven't seen any results.

Eat Cookies...Lose Weight

It really ISN'T too Good to Be True!!!

You really can lose weight eating cookies.

Here's how it works:

The COOKIE DIET works by having the patient eat six cookies per day, and only when hungry. Dinner is the one meal allowed on the diet and usually consists of a lighter meat dish with vegetables. It is recommended that people speak to their doctors before starting any diet, but Siegal says his diet works because it has a simple philosophy: "Hunger wrecks diets," he said. "My cookie minimizes that major stumbling block to successful dieting."

The Cookie Diet is unlike any other diet you've tried

The cookies are FDA-approved and come in chocolate, oatmeal raisin, blueberry, coconut and banana flavors, and contain amino acids and proteins. They open the door to diversity in diet foods, but the texture may be different from what people may expect. The cookies are light and spongy, more like a muffin or banana bread than a traditional cookie. Some patients who have tried the cookie diet recommend heating the cookie up for 10 to 15 seconds in a microwave and spritzing it with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray.

Don't Be Fooled By Imitations

"They say that 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.' Well, I'm feeling very flattered these days. Over the last 35 years, imitators of Dr. Siegal's® Cookie Diet have come and gone, almost without notice. But all of a sudden there's a whole new crop of imitators. Stories of our patients' success has obviously gotten around, and opportunistic copy cats have come out of the woodwork." says Dr. Siegal

So How Much Weight Can You Expect to Lose On The Cookie Diet?

Typically 12 to 15 lbs. per month!

Though it may smack of dessert, the cookie diet is not for the weak-willed. Patients get six cookies a day to snack on as a substitute for breakfast and lunch. "Dinner" is a humble 300 calories, usually in the form of lean protein, such as chicken, fish or turkey, and a small salad or serving of vegetables. At 800 calories total - roughly one-third the recommended daily adult intake - patients are almost guaranteed dramatic results, typically 12 to 15 pounds a month. "The weight just pours off them," Dr. Siegal says. "There isn't any question of 'Is it going to work?' Of course it's going to work."

**Ela Prieto, a 39-year-old bank executive, lost 51 pounds, shrinking from a size 14 to a size 4. She was on the cookie diet for four and a half months, and then went off the diet and onto a maintenance program for the last two years, on which she eats about 1,200 calories a day, and exercises.

"The first five days, like on every diet, it's not easy," Prieto said. But instead of toting around a salad or a TV dinner, she just put her cookies in a Ziploc bag and kept them with her.

"And I'm not hungry," she said. "The cookies do satisfy."

**Katia Powell of Boston found the diet online. She says it was tough at first.

"They're not like Chips Ahoy."

But, Katia is thrilled with the results. She dropped 14 pounds in three weeks on the cookie diet.

"I lost 19 pounds in the first 10 days and in the first month it was 44 pounds. I realized I was onto something. (I) thought (it would) grind to a halt, (but) now I still lose five pounds every week and it's just not that hard to do," Pickel said.

**"I tried grapefruits, I tried hard boiled eggs. I tried starving," said **Diane Delano.

Diane Delano's latest diet tool? Cookies.
