Orlando has been rated as one of the best timeshare vacation locations there is, particularly for families. Most of us think of locations like Kennedy Space Center, Sea World, Disney World and Epcot Center when Orlando is mentioned.

However, that's not all that this great area has to offer...

Orlando - Did you know...

Did you know that the Orlando metro area offers more than a hundred lakes? Or that downtown Orlando's historic neighborhoods are a great respite from the purpose-built tourist attractions found elsewhere in the vicinity? With historic museums, excellent natural locations and lots more, there's something in the Orlando area for everyone. That makes it the perfect choice for your timeshare.

Timeshares - What? How? Why?

Timeshares are the right solution for anyone who wants to leave the motels, hotels, and RV camping behind, but can't afford a full time vacation home. With a timeshare, you get to enjoy yourself, have real ownership, and still save money. There are several different types of timeshares available in Orlando, however.

It's possible to lease a timeshare, and some people choose to do this while they're deciding if this is the right vacation option for them. However, in the long run, owning a timeshare is much more secure. You'll get a real deed that can be treated like the deed or title to any other piece of property. Your timeshare can be sold, rented, and even left to family members as though it were any other type of property - something you won't get with a lease.

Whether you decide to lease or to buy your own Orlando timeshare, you'll get a choice of how your time there will be determined. The three main options are fixed timeshares, floating timeshares, and points-based timeshares. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on how you organize your Orlando vacations and how your schedule works.

In a points-based Orlando timeshare, you'll be given a certain number of points every year. Those may or may not roll over to additional years, but they dictate when and how long you can stay - each stay uses up a certain number of points. The number used is based on how popular the week you're staying will be, how much space you're using, and how long you'll be there. Pay attention to your schedule and the way your family vacations to choose the best Orlando timeshare option for you.

Fixed Timeshares

A fixed timeshare is the most traditional option, and still the most commonly used. If you have this type of arrangement, you'll decide what week you want to use the timeshare when you buy it. Then, you'll have the same week available to you as long as you own the timeshare. This is great if you have a fairly standard schedule and take your vacations at the same time every year.

Floating Timeshares

A floating timeshare gives you a little more flexibility, but you give up some security. You'll get to choose a new week every year, so it doesn't matter if you don't take your vacation on the same week each time. However, you'll need to schedule well in advance, since others will be competing with you for the most popular vacation weeks.

Points Based Timeshares

In a points-based Orlando timeshare, you'll be given a certain number of points every year. Those may or may not roll over to additional years, but they dictate when and how long you can stay - each stay uses up a certain number of points. The number used is based on how popular the week you're staying will be, how much space you're using, and how long you'll be there. Pay attention to your schedule and the way your family vacations to choose the best Orlando timeshare option for you.
