This year Dwight Howard and the boys face another stumbling block in getting back to the big show in the revamped Miami Heat with their superstar laden crew. 2009 Magic high and low points:
High- For a team that's thinking deep playoff run, perhaps the biggest win of the season was the 116-87 pounding the Magic handed the #1 overall seed Cleveland Cavaliers just two weeks ago. The Magic have remained consistent over the season, losing only 3 consecutive games once, and that was with starters resting for the bench. They've proven capable of beating the East's two higher teams, but really sit just half step below as far as title chances are concerned.
Low- Losing point guard Jameer Nelson to a shoulder injury in February. Nelson was in the midst of an all star caliber season and posting career highs in points, steals, rebounds, and FG%. Rafer Alston has done a nice job filling in since the trade, but the fact remains Nelson is a better point guard and would make the Magic a real threat to win an NBA title.
2009 76ers highs and lows:
High- January. For a team that essentially counts on beating the teams it should, Philadelphia rolled off a 10-5 record, beating Houston (twice), Atlanta, San Antonio, and Portland, with losses coming to Dallas and San Antonio by just two points. A good showing against quality opponents is probably what kept Philadelphia not only out of the bottom two seeds, but also in the playoffs.
Low- Right now. As you read this, the 76ers have dropped 6 of their last 7 games and had to beat the Cavaliers second team just to get the 6 seed. The playoffs are frequently all about momentum and for a team that has garnered just three wins in the month of April, the head of steam isn't there right now. Read the full preview
