All Things Prosthetics and Orthotics
This site is for all things orthotics and prosthetics. I'll include links to major manufacturers, amputee support groups, and clinicians who go above and beyond what they were trained to do.
In medicine, a prosthesis is an artificial extension that replaces a missing body part. Prosthetics are typically used to replace parts lost by injury (traumatic) or missing from birth (congenital) or to supplement defective body parts.
Orthotics is the medical field concerned with the application and manufacture of orthoses, devices which support or correct the function of a limb or the torso.
The Field
If you're new to the field of orthotics and prosthetics, it can be very eye opening. Obviously if you're an amputee, everything about the field is confusing and interesting. As a technician or clinician, you may be puzzled by some of the seemingly uncaring actions of your fellow workers. I'm here to help you navigate and find your direction whether you are a worker or patient. It's a fascinating field and will continue to develop as the years go by. New products and techniques are being discovered daily!
