Oscar comes from South America i.e. Amazon River, Rio Parana, Rio Negro, and Rio Paraguay. This beautiful fish is nice for your aquarium. They are intelligence fish. They can follow the owner's hand. You can care six or eight Oscar in one tank. The performance is grim enough. They have black basic color. On the other hand, albino color is white. The head is big like other cichlids. They have big mouth that helps to eat small fish. They could attack your fingers. I have ever heard the Oscar bit the owner's finger. Do not worry. The fish could not cut your finger.

The Oscar has some color variation such as red pattern, yellow pattern, albino, and long tail. You can choose what kind Oscar that you like. In my opinion, the red Oscar is very nice. The red spot spreads at the body of fish. This variety is called red tiger. Some Oscar lovers feed Oscar shrimp. They believe shrimp will light red color. I think the myth must be examined.

The yellow or gold Oscar has yellow spot at the body. Each fish has different pattern. Oscar has circle pattern at the tail. The albino is nice too. The basic color is reddish white. The Oscar has red pattern at the body. The color of albino Oscar's eye is red; while, most Oscar's eye is brown. You can care albino with other Oscar too. I have ever seen the albino and the common live together at aquarium.

There is also long tail variation too. The long tail has beautiful long tail or caudal fin.

The Oscar size could reach 30 cm. If you care at small aquarium, the Oscar growth will be barrier. It will lately grow. Moreover, you rare feed the fish. If you want the fish growth fast, you should care at the pool. The fish could free moves. Of course, you must feed full nutritive food.

This tropic fish must need warm aquarium. You can complete your aquarium with the temperature regulator. The Oscar needs aerator to support their respiration system. My friend's Oscar has died because the aerator turns off whereas the aerator did not run only one night.

Oscar is aggressive fish. It cannot live together with other species fish. I wanted to care this fish at my family's tanks. Unfortunately, my father forbids. He said that Oscar could attack our gold fish. My father did not like Oscar. Oscar can eat small fish like platy, guppy, swordfish, small gold fish, etc. The Oscar is also like worm and insect.

Oscar could spawn at one-half old. The female could lay four thousand eggs.
