Thank you for sharing this information about osteoarthritis, this is a very informative lens and can help a lot of people suffering from it on how to deal with the ailment. There are certain studies which states that those obese people suffering from osteoarthritis may be treated once they lose some weight. DePuy Pinnacle Lawsuit

I've been really apprehensive about going through a hip replacement surgery since the couple of Hip Replacement Recall made on several hip implants. How can I be sure that the one used on me is not defective?
  • Silver_Lotus Aug 21, 2011 @ 8:50 am | delete
You need to discuss this with your doctor. While some implants have been recalled, I think people have become a little crazy on the subject due to the way information and misinformation spread online. If you have a good doctor and trust him/her, together you can make the right decision. Just remember that there are plenty of folks out there who've had the surgery done and had no problems with defective implants.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that affects weight-bearing joints. Extra bones may form around the joint, and the ligaments and muscles around the hips become weaker and stiffer which causes excruciating pain upon movement. A hip replacement (may it be partial or total), can help relieve the constant pain around the hips. If you or a love one has had a hip implant in the past, check out this site for information about the DePuy Pinnacle Recall.

This is a very informative and well written piece. I had one hip replaced last year and am waiting to have the other plus a knee done sometime soon. For me its not a matter of if I do it but working out the best time for the operation. It's a matter of balancing quality of life against the probable need for earlier revision work.

You have great information on this lens. I've lensrolled it to my Yoga and Arthritis lens. Yoga does help arthritis, but so do many other forms of exercise (my preference is yoga...). I've had a number of yoga students who've had hip replacement surgery, and they do well in the classes.

Arthritis home remedy methods do exist and many of there users swear by them, but what are they? Here below are some recommended arthritis home remedy solutions. Ankylosing Spondylitis Symptoms is an inflammatory arthritic disease or spondyloarthropathy, classified with reactive arthritis, bowel disease arthritis and psoriatic arthritis.
  • Silver_Lotus Jan 1, 2010 @ 10:09 am | delete
So true about home remedies! And they work, or not, differently for each person. And sometimes there are variations within one person - for example, one remedy worked really well for the pain I had in my right hip. After surgery took care of that hip, the same remedy didn't help at all when the other hip became really painful. Lesson - one has to try different remedies until the right match is found. Thanks for visiting.

Thank you for the compliment - if this lens helps anyone, I'm grateful. As far as medical tourism is concerned, I lived overseas for a long time and know that there are fantastic healthcare options - at extremely reasonable prices - in places like India, Thailand, Singapore.....so I wish you good luck with getting the word out about India!

Great lens! I'm a strong believer in at least giving alternative treatments and nutritional supplemetns a shot. I'm a physical therapist and watching people go through surgery is heart wrenching. While some may have surgery no matter what, the right conservative care can prolong surgery for a long time!

I've done some Squidoo lenses on good alternative options:

I don't need a customized nutritional dietary supplement!
