My toddlers love Oswald octopus. Out of the many choices of cartoons and shows for toddlers, Nick Jr's Oswald is one of my favorites. It's not loud or in your face. All of the characters are polite. My daughter loves the music in every Oswald cartoon episode, and I love that each episode teaches some form of problem solving.
It's a really great show for babies and toddlers.

Where Did Dan Yaccarino Get the Idea for Oswald Octopus?
Dan Yaccarino writes and illustrates children's books. He said that he created Oswald and his whimsical world because he wanted to do something different. It just so happens that Yaccarino has always be interested in octopi and his favorite color is blue. So, that's how he got the idea for the show's central character.
Yaccarino says that when creating Oswald he wanted to tell simple stories with positive messages. As a parent, I feel that he fully succeeded with this task.

- My two year old grand daughter started waking up at 6:30 AM every weekday morning to watch Oswald and the great stories and songs have led to her singing and talking like never before. The extra punch comes with the good manners, saying "thank you" and being helpful. I've sinced purchased several Oswald DVD's and books. Now my personal character is Henry... I find myself sitting up laughing at his "perfect" behavior and speech.
