Welcome to Ottawa the Capital of Canada!

Located on the eastern edge of the province of Ontario, 400 kilometres northeast of Toronto and 190 kilometres west of Montreal, Ottawa lies on the banks of the Ottawa River, which forms the border between Ontario and Quebec.

Ottawa is renowned for its copper roofed Parliament Buildings, which turn green as the copper oxidizes (as seen above). I was fortunate enough to be in Ottawa one summer when they where replacing a section of the roof, and I had to wonder aloud why they were not matching the colour, as the new section was copper in colour and the rest of the roof was green.

In addition to the government attractions and the Bytown historical areas, many people enjoy hiking, camping and cycling in Gatineau Park or rafting upstream along the Ottawa River. When they get back into town, the last thing they want is to have to prepare a meal, which is where the thriving restaurant sector comes in.

Anyway I digress, here is the official City of Ottawa website, which provides you with loads of information on the local government, tourism attractions, transportation, and really anything else you can think of. On that note, here is a map of Ottawa.
