The OtterBox Defender Case
Please let's rethink that for a moment here are 3 reasons why I think you should buy an OtterBox Defender Case for your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS. Remember all it takes is one drop and you don't know which one it will be perhaps the 1st, 4th, or 6th fall that will push your iPhone over the edge.
To start out with, you need to guard your iPhone from accidents that will crack your screen and render it useless. I understand your objection that that using a case might make your iPhone bulkier to carry around in your pocket. That is true, but nevertheless the little bit of extra padding will go a long way to safeguarding your iPhone.
Second, it helps to protect your iPhone from getting the screen all nicked up and filled with dust. The case doesn't disturb the slider functions and you can still access all of the ports like your headphones, and the jack for charging. Even better you can use the camera to take great pictures that aren't fuzzy coated.
And third, it shields against bumps and shocks like dropping it on the floor, or your children playing with it or using it as a teething ring. As a result buying the OtterBox is a smart move to protect your purchase, iPhones are not cheap and replacing the screen may cost equally as much or more than a new phone.
I know this because I talked with a friend of mine this 4th of July weekend at a cookout she whipped out her iPhone for some reason or another and her screen was shattered and held together with tape. Sure enough she said it would be more expensive to fix the screen than to buy a new phone. She had one of those little colored rubber jobbies on there, it apparently didn't help to protect the screen from smashing.
Take my son (please give him back when you are done) for instance we both bought iPhones I got a cover and he didn't even though I encouraged it. He has had a few spills like we all have had but one afternoon he walked in the house and dropped it from 2 feet it shattered the screen. On the other hand when I take my phone out of the case it looks brand new - no scratches and it's well over a year old. Yeah it's a not quite as slim as other folks iPhones but it is in much better condition.
BTW The case makes a great gift for your friends and comes in many cool colors.
