Materials
* 3 1/4 yards 36 inch sail cloth or any heavy tightly woven upholstery fabric
* 3 1/4 yards of 36 inch lining
* 10 1/2 yards welting
* Stuffing
* 2 inch button for top
* 1 heavy 20 inch zipper
* thick sewing thread
Steps to Follow
Follow these steps to sew an ottoman for your home.
1.
Cut pattern piece from cardboard allowing one inch per square.
4.
Tack the strips together, wrong sides out, and stitch three times for strength, leaving one seam open 20 inches for turning and stuffing. After turning to right side, insert the zipper and stitch several times for strength.
5.
Pin the strips for lining together and stitch three times, leaving one seam free. Place the lining inside the ottoman and tack the lining and ottoman together except for the zipper seam. Cover the button in the same fabric as the ottoman and sew to the top catching the fabric and lining together. Stuff and shape, packing well, as the stuffing will settle. As the ottoman is used, more stuffing may need to be added as it settles.
