1.Place the board upon the knees of two persons, lady and gentleman preferred. Place heart shaped table (the planchette) in the center of the board, resting fingers lightly upon the table so as to allow it to move freely and easily. A question may be asked, and in from one to five minutes the table witll commence to move, at first slowly and then faster. As the table passes over the board, a transparent window or pointer at the top indicates each letter of a message as it is received.

Care should be taken that only one person asks questions at a time so as to avoid confusion.

To obtain the best results it is important that the person present should concentrate upon the matter in question and avoid other topics. Have no person at the table that will not sit seriously and respectfully. If you use it in a frivolous spirit, asking ridiculous questions, laughing over it, you will naturally get undeveloped influences around you.

The Spirit Board is a great mystery, and none claim to give exact directions for it's management and use, and the spirit board will not work equally well under all circumstances. With reasonable patience and judgment the Board will satisfy your greatest expectations.
5.
The board should be kept smooth and free from dust and moisture, as all depends on the ease with which the feet of the table can glide over the surface of the board. Rubbing with a soft dry cloth just before using is advised.

Suggestions:
Two or more people with hands on the planchette make the spirit connection more stable. Our skepticism is somewhat reduced to believe in the movement of the planchette during multiple participant sessions. Our skeptic minds tend to believe that it is someone else in the session moving the planchette. This skepticism allows the spirit to use that belief system, and therefore much easier to move the planchette themselves.
Burning Lavender (incense or herb) tends to welcome benevolent spirits for other realms. Burning frankincense tends to protect the session from not so benevolent ones.
Burning white candles during a Spirit Board session allows white light to protect the participants.
Low lighting in the room creates a better atmosphere for conducting a reading with the Ouiji type Spirit Board.
Using the Spirit Board around midnight seems to create a stronger connection to the spirit realm.
You can use the Spirit Board (Ouiji Board) on a table, or you can sit face to face with another and place it on your knees. I find a table is more stable in that some sessions may be very long, and you may desire to shift your weight or hands often.
It is a good idea to have someone writing down questions and responses. Often spirits speak in an abbreviated code of first letters of words (instead of whole words) and also they may spell things out phonetically. When we see it written out, it becomes more clear.
Wiccan Spirit Board
Here are a few time honored BlackRaven suggestions:
* wipe your board clean with a soft cloth* smudge your board with a sage bundle or any purifying incense (like rosemary, patchoulli, or frankensence)
* light a white candle
* state, in a clear strong voice, that no negative or harmful energies be attracted to your Board
* tell any negative forces that may be present that they are now banished and dismissed
* Some like to say a prayer or some some words of protection prior to using the board
* ask for a helpful and positive entity to make itself know to you before beginning the questions
You can use a spirit or talking board by yourself, but this requires practice and patience for most people. Some are simply unable to get results when working with the board alone. The energy raised by two or more may be needed. All of the above pointers are just suggestions and can be modified as the user sees fit. As with any form of divination, what works for one may not work for another.
Now, whether the hidden knowledge is part of your subconscious or comes from the spirit world is open to your interpretation...
In my opinion after 25 years of experience is that Spirit Boards do work.
A Spirit board will not bring evil spirits!
Unless of course, you really believe that they will...

My Personal Warnings:
Do NOT use the Spirit Board in graveyards or sights of tragic death. Spirits bound to these places are often very confused and sometimes angry. Using a Spirit Board in these places can open a connection with those spirits to yourself and allow them to bind to you and/or the board.
Do NOT take the Spirit Board lightly; mocking the message deliver can cause unpleasant reactions. The idea here is that do you like to be mocked or taken lightly? Nor do the Spirits.
Do NOT believe everything just because it comes thru on a Spirit Board. When we pass to the other side, we tend to keep our personalities. We can joke, tease, and even lie; as can the spirits that come thru on these boards. They are still human so to speak. An angry human is not likely to mellow in death, although some may.
Take notes during your session, carefully evaluate all the information you get from beyond. If it does not sound right, or feel comfortable, you may want to consider banishing the spirit from contact. You may also want to do a basic cleansing or smudging or your board after a session. By all means test the information you get. Ask questions until you are sure the information you are receiving is consistant.

I would advise you to take precautions, and realize that those that may contact you from the other side might confused or possibly very angry. Those that are angry and have taken the time to learn how to manifest their abilities could "push the limits" between the barrier of our world and theirs.
For those spirits fear is often the catalyst that provides them the "energy" to manifest themselves. The more afraid they make you they more they can actually do, whether that be their ability to show themselves, speak, makes sounds, or move things. Control the fear, and your control their ability to manifest.

Give it time, pay attention to everything around you, because you guide me also be reaching out to you and you are overlooking it. I once spent a whole year watching the cardinals fly up to my window only to eventually open my self to the animal spirit guide of the cardinal.

Granted there are bad spirits and I choose to commune with a better quality of those that have passed or guides from the other side.
