About Our Renewable Energy Choices

Ranked #18,750 in Home & Garden, #270,784 overall

Renewable forms of energy are typically safer for the earth than using fossil fuels, making them a much cleaner option.

When it comes to renewable energy this is important for two reasons.

You will find that there is lot going on in our demand for daily energy to our homes and businesses that is hurting the environment. You will find that there is a lot of future harm from the greenhouse effect and other environmental damage caused by the fossil fuels both in extracting it and in burning it.

Second, renewable energy sources are exactly what their name implies - renewable. Therefore, these sources of energy will not run out or become scarce and expensive, as fossil fuels eventually will.

Because the renewable energy sources are becoming more and more researched, it is only a matter of time when major energy companies begin their switch from fossil fuels to these alternative energies.

There are many different types of renewable energy, including solar, wind, water, geothermal, biomass, and tidal.

Many effects will have a positive outlook on the environment because there is nothing produced by the energies that could harm the environment at all. Solar energy refers to power from the sun.

We see this in everyday life as solar covers are placed on swimming pools to help then gather and retain heat. When you wear black on a sunny day, you will feel the effects of solar power. Solar power takes this heat and turns it into useful energy, which we can use to heat our homes and power other electronic devices.

Wind energy is one of the oldest forms of alternative energy, along with water power, Windmills and waterwheels were used as early as the middle ages to produce energy, and are still being used in many countries today in refined forms. By using generators, you will be able to convert power into electricity by using things like generators, windmills, waterwheels, and other old-world technologies.

Geothermal energy taps into the heat from the earth, by using geological hotspots such as volcanic sites, to produce energy. Biomass is also a very earth-like way of producing heat. This form of renewable energy refers to the use of once living organisms to produce heat and other forms of energy.

Tidal waves can begin to make the energy or power that waterwheels and windmills in the same way. The ocean can also be used for its heated surface temperatures and cool deep-water temperatures to convert heat energy into useful electricity.

At the end of the day, you will find that the only drawback to using renewable energies in the place of fossil fuel is the cost

It is expensive, but it can do a lot for the environment and your own good. Solar, wind, water, and other ways have been studied so that you can get renewable and alternative energies.

Most people will agree that fossil fuels are not going to last forever, and now is the time to start planning for the future.

You may want to support these alternative energy sources and methods sooner rather than later, since it will allow the environment to be beautiful and healthy.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF GOING GREEN?

There are many reasons for going green but the two most obvious are Environmental and economical.

You don't have to be a "dyed-in-the-wool greenie" to experience the advantages of going green and it will not make you a hypocrite if you are a climate change skeptic going green.

Going green simply means using the earth's natural resources to power your home and car or taking steps to reduce your carbon footprint on the Earth. Farmers, manufacturers, businesses, governments, institutions and more can all do many things to reduce their carbon footprint on the Earth.

Even if you are a climate change skeptic going green has many other advantages other than saving the environment and reversing Ozone layer depletion. What going green means to you regardless of your stance are advantages being economic, social and to some extent changing your immediate environment to be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

CHANGE YOU MINDSET CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Think about everything you do each day and how it affects you, the environment and people both far and near, get a clear perception of how not only being conscious of your energy needs but how the world will be a better place to live if you live your life in a more sustainable way.

Make it your Mantra and decide today right now to be a greener living citizen and keep it that way. You will benefit in the long and short term.

THE ADVANTAGES

So now you know you have to go green what are the advantages for you?

1. Saving money!
Everyone wants to pay less for fuel to drive their car, Electricity to power their household appliances both for entertainment and work, heating and cooling etc.

By using more energy efficient appliances you can reduce your monthly electricity bill, by keeping your car running well, keeping it serviced, tires pumped to the correct pressure, driving smoothly and less erratically you will save money through filling your car up less often.

You will still have to pay the same amount at the pump but you will have to fill up less often. Use the Earth's natural resources to power your home.

Although there may be an initial outlay sooner or later you will have made your money back and eventually be paying far less or even nothing, think of the big picture rather than what is in front of you. Minor changes to your lifestyle can even save you money such as sharing your car with other people to get to work (car pooling).

Planning your shopping so you only need to go to the supermarket once a fortnight and offer to take your neighbor and in return your neighbor will take you. You have just reduced your cars fuel consumption from six trips a fortnight to the shops to one trip a fortnight!

Governments and councils are slowly introducing taxes and fees to pay for green infrastructure such as solar and wind farms but you can take advantage of government rebates to offset these charges.

2. Saving the Environment.
Living in the city you are used to the view being obscured by smog but things are gradually turning around. Our cars put out less poisonous fumes and use less petrol but by adjusting your driving patterns you can reduce these even further.

Using less power means burning less fossil fuel such as coal. The creation of Electricity through burning coal is incredibly inefficient and releases thousands of tons of Co2 into the Atmosphere.

Carbon released into the Atmosphere is supposed to be responsible for much of today's climate change. Heating your home with firewood while still releasing Co2 into the Atmosphere is far more efficient than heating with electricity.

On a daily basis we hear news of catastrophic events, Tsunamis, Wild storms, flooding etc, going green means gradually changing the Earth back to a more stable planet, one where we can live safely now and the generations ahead of us.

3. Self satisfaction.
Saving money and the Environment will give you a feeling of achievement and success. Your positive thinking will catch on to your neighbors, workmates and family so soon we will all be going green.

4. More water.
Are you living in a state of drought? Much of the earth is and it is likely that your local water authorities have a restriction on how much water you can use.

By going green you commit yourself to using less water but this can be an advantage in that you need to spend less time watering your garden through planting drought resistant varieties. If we change the way we live hopefully normal rain patterns will return bringing us more water.
