Slice of Manila's Hidden Places. Food and Travel Secrets through Word-Of-Mouth. Shared through our Awesome Family Adventures. [www.ourawesomeplanet.com]

What are your hobbies, interests, and things you'd like other people to know about you?
I currently work as an IT manager for Procter & Gamble, Philippines for more than 10 years. I love my job! Also, I'm passionate in exploring the beauty of the Philippines, and photo-blogging life's blessings and surprises. I love playing table tennis, playing badminton, and recently, running marathons. I would like to be known as one of the premier travel writer and photographer of the Philippines. For some reason, I got recognized as a food critic. I love adventure and discovering culinary and travel secrets in the Philippines :)

How did you start to blog? What were your objectives in putting up the blog?
I started my blog when my wife gave birth to my son, Aidan last January 2005. It is an ongoing documentary of our family's adventure and Aidan's life ever since birth. Later on, I realized that blogs have a power on its own and people start listening to my voice online. I was inspired to use it to promote the Philippines by documenting our awesome adventures, travels secrets, and culinary escapades.

Why the title "Awesome Planet?"
I truly believe that life is great, and we just have to open our eyes to appreciate our blessings. The title is an evolution from the lonely planet and I wanted to create a positive spin to it. Someday I'm hoping to write my life's adventures in a book called Awesome Planet: Philippines :)

What are your online/blogging habits?
- I blog about things that makes me happy.
- I normally blog in the morning where the thoughts just keep on flowing.
- I now use an ecto blogging client for my blog and group blogging posts.
- I get inspiration from pro bloggers on how to develop the conversational style and from other Filipinos who love the Philippines more than I do.

How do you find the time to blog?
I usually wake up early in the morning to blog. This is the time that my thoughts seem to flow freely. Sometimes, I blog at night if I'm excited to blog about something that can't wait until the next day. I try to blog daily because it is easier if you are into the "blogging grove". Otherwise, it becomes difficult to start once you are under the spell of the "blogger's block". My blogging is usually a meaningless dump of what's on my mind so sometimes, it is quite confusing when I write my first draft.

My Most Memorable Meals Ever

This was a tough but fun post that I'm glad Franco convinced me to write. I always love to eat and look for unique experiences even before I started blogging. So my wife and I had to brainstorm on the top 10 Most Memorable Meals ever in our life. In some cases, I have to dig up old photos just to share with you the experience. The list below is in no particular order because each one is unique and memorable in itself. The common denominator between all of them is that they are enjoyed with love ones or friends that you care about.

Life and Death in 2005
Life is short to fulfill my mission in life. Death is imminent and this year my family are so blessed that we got to celebrate christmas and new year happily together. At first, I did not realize how devastating the tsunami was and in just one instance, you can just lose your life even when you are on vacation....
"Pinoy 2.0": The next generation of Global Filipinos
via their email address or via their blogs. Web 2.0 (Tim Orielly) is emerging and Filipinos now have the opportunity to take the lead in this emerging trend. I was inspired by the book 12 Little Things every Filipino can do to Help their Country (Alexander Lacson) and I want to push the concept on what Filipinos can do in a flattened Web 2.0 world (with a little effort of course). I truly believe that if we leverage on our Filipino strengths, learn breakthrough ideas in a flattened world, and develop our capabilities in Web 2.0 emerging trends, then we will become a super power in the knowledge-driven global arena...
Roadmap to becoming a Project Management Professional (PMP)!
I was reminded by my wife to complete my series on PMP when I passed the certification last Sept. 23. Instead of doing five separate series, this post would be comprehensive on the What, Why, When, How much and How to become a Project Management Professional. PMP is a professional certification much like Engineering board exam, Nursing board exam, or any other professional course. But unlike our board exams here, PMP is globally recognized by 20 countries...
Nothing beats an Antonio's Dinner @ Tagaytay!
Almost every year, I have the privilege of having dinner at Antonio's @ Brgy Neogan, Tagaytay by renowned Chef Antonio Escalante. It continues to be the best special dinner you could ever have in Manila. This is the food paradise place where you won't complain about how expensive it is (P2,000+/person) because you are paying for the dining experience with perfect food, perfect ambiance, and perfect service from Antonio's and his staff. You would even appreciate how slow they would serve the food because they make sure that they it is cooked fresh when you order it. For those who have not been to this place or planning to go on any season, here is a guide on how to have the best Antonio's experience...
Romi's Everest and My One Big Dream. What's your Everest?
I was truly inspired by the talk of my friend, Romi Garduce when he shared with us an experiential account and inspirational talk on his successful climb to Everest. I witness how it unfolded and in fact, blogged about it throughout the journey ( see First Filipino in Everest) . Every time I read through the slides I'm truly inspired and I want to conquer my own Everest literally and figuratively. This is an exclusive (naks naman!) talk with Romi but I want to share it with you to inspire you in conquering your own Everest. All the photos and text are developed and presented by Romi Garduce during his talk to us last July 6, 2006...
What a Spankadventure: The Very Best of Pampanga Cuisine!
It was a foodie dream come true!

I have always dreamed about the day that I would get to explore the very best of Pampanga food. Once again, that dream came true last Saturday night during our pampanga culinary adventure 2.0 led by Spanx. We ended the food trip with a kapampangan feast that we will never forget. From Mely's Sisig, to Jun-Jun's Barbeque and the popular Everybody Cafe's authentic Pampanga food. Of course, the meal will not be complete without the unique Pampanga dessert treat of Doren Tayag's Decadent Cake with Caramel Sauce and Aurely's Special upside down version of Brazo de Mercedes...
[I Love Boutique] The Essential Guide to The Boutique
I miss this favorite spot already at The Boutique. We stayed here for two nights from Dec 30th till the eve of New Year. I would like to share it as my favorites and share with you my Awesome The Boutique experience. The Boutique have only seven rooms with unique features to consider: 6 rooms have Taal Lake view and 4 rooms are located on the second floor. Privacy is very important since the intent is never to leave your room until check out time. The best rooms are the I Love room located in the ground floor with a lovely patio (shown above); the I Lust room where you have a separate bath tub and the most secluded room; and the I Dream room, also located in the second floor but has the best view of Taal lake. (We stayed in the first two rooms and see pictures below)...

T-House embodies the luxurious charms of a Boutique Hotel with the service and warmth of a Bed and Breakfast Place, and affordability of a typical hotel outside Metro Manila. It is a blessed place with sacred grounds because of its close proximity to the Ina ng Laging Saklolo Parish Church. It redefines your definition of a weekend escape in Tagaytay!
