Shade Awnings

Awnings

Shade awnings are basically any kind of structure that can be connected to another structure to provide shade. Mostly they're connected to homes or porches, but smaller shade awnings can also be connected to windows or cars. One of the most recognizable example of shade awnings are the long cylindrical shaped ones you might see connected to motels. In many cases businesses will use shade awnings to make their businesses seem more inviting and display their goods. Nothing portrays hospitality or comfort better than some shade to relax under while you peruse some fresh vegetable, fruits, or deli meats, especially in the hot summer.

Awning Resouces

Awnings
Living in a desert or the hotter climes of America demands a little more to keep you cool outside. Fortunately, home awnings allow you to not only provide shade for yourself, but improve the appearance of your home. Home awnings come in a variety of colors, and many are actually retractable...
Awning Canopies
Awning canopies are quite possibly one of the most useful weather control devices I know of. They are more reliable than using umbrellas or trying to find shade. Awning canopies can be used at your home, business or while you are out. The popularity of awning canopies is growing all the time...

Affordability

Some shade awnings are easily more affordable than others. A set of enormous retractable mechanical shade awnings for your patio starts at twelve hundred dollars, while something smaller for your windows is usually around a few hundred dollars. There's usually at least one place nearby to get shad awnings. Even the Home Depot has them, and in a wide variety. Whether you want plain white fabric shade awnings or a nice solid aluminum attachment, most places are within twenty five miles of some kind of distributor who can hook you up with something of especially for you.

Where to put an Awning?

Location isn't a problem at all. In fact the only problem is making up your mind about which style of shade awnings you want. Aluminum is really one of the best possible material for shade awnings but makes the bigger models all the more expensive. Personally, however, I'm of the opinion that sturdy material like aluminum makes it so that you don't need extra features on it like making it retractable and mechanical. Unless you live on the hurricane prone parts of the coast, winds won't affect aluminum shade awnings at all. Because they're so sturdy, however, it goes without saying that they're more expensive. I would suggest that you get around this by only buying smaller aluminum shade awnings for your windows.

Aluminum and Fabric

Because fabric is so much cheaper than aluminum, fabric shade awnings are obviously cheaper, but they are also more likely to be more aesthetically pleasing. Fabric allows manufacturers to play with color schemes and fringes much more than aluminum would which is why retractable and mechanical models are cheaper when fabric is involved. No big model is cheap by my standards, starting around a thousand dollars, but there is a difference of a thousand dollars or so between fabric and aluminum.

Are Awnings Worth It?

I've bought shade awnings before and I'm telling you they're a great purchase. I can relax with a book in the shade while my kids play on the little playground I've built them, and shade awnings make it easier for my wife to relax outside with me even when the kids are in bed. I liked assembling my own shade awnings, and I like how they look on my house. If you have the money for it, I guarantee you'll enjoy having them because shade really is a luxury on those hot summer days.
