What to buy, teak, oak, maple, ash, wicker, alluminum or ??? outdoor patio furniture...hmm..

Well here we are, summer of 2007. You may be thinking about buying some new outdoor furniture, whether it is to replace or add to or even your first time and you are wondering what to get for yourself. So many choices so many color variations, type, models, brands and of course there is the budget.

So the question is, local or internet, which way do I go? I know some of the people at the local stores, but my choices are limited. I don't know the people on the internet, but I do have a lot of choices, and I can get what I want. That is the bottom line, getting what you want. Personally I go on the internet and do my research, find what I want, then while I am out on the town I check out the local stores, still doing my research. Believe it or not but most of my shopping is on the internet. My credit card is protected, they (the credit card company) watch it for me. I do look for certain things when I purchase on the internet, like, https did you know the 's' stands for secure? It takes a lot for a web site to have this s. I look for other things, phone number and address of the people I may do business with.

I even go as far as calling them if possible just to make sure someone is really there. Now lets get back to the question at hand, what type of outdoor furniture do you buy for your self? This is a great question and it all depends on you. Teak is costly, but lasts forever (ok maybe not forever but at least a lifetime for most) Cedar is good looking but ever so often it needs some work such as paint, varnish tightening the legs/arms. Aluminum is inexpensive but won't hold up for long. Cast Iron is nice looking and can be very intricate, but it will get scratched and rough looking fairly quickly. Wicker, plastic and the rest have good and bad about them also.

So here is an answer for you, if you want something that will last a long time and is virtually no work, Teak is your answer. If you don't want to spend that much money then it comes down to style, color and material along with your budget.

Do your research, then trust your gut instinct. It is usually correct. If it feels right do it! Good luck and hope to see you soon.
