Looking for Something Different?

Perhaps you are a parent searching for a different type of book to read to your children? Or a teacher hoping to add a few scarier stories to your classroom? Do you dislike the dull and sappy stories available? Are they too sweet for your tastes? Do you prefer something with a darker sense of humor? Something occasionally morbid or a bit delightfully frightening? If so, you are in luck! There is a burgeoning market for outlandish books for outlandish parents, creating stories with slightly twisted yet humorous plots that should cater to the slightly twisted individual.

How to Pick and Choose

Don't give your child a heart attack, in other words

Every parent knows what's best for their child, or at least that is what we childless folk tell ourselves to make the world seem like a better place. This collection of books that I've set up contains a varying degree of morbid humor and frightening visuals that every parent should be able to accurately judge in regard to its suitability for their children. Strangely, I've encountered a few children with absolutely no sense of correct fear. They laugh at monsters but scream at the thought of taking a bath, so pursue these literary gems with your own caution.

Love, love, love this list! I haven't heard of most of these books yet, but I'd definitely pick them up in a heartbeat. I love the offbeat sense of humor, and I imagine it's an important thing to have for parents!
