So it's just basic reasoning that the more you prepare and practice for your speech, the less likely you are to mess up and embarrass yourself in front of a crowd. So let your friends or family read over it, say it to yourself while you're driving to the store, etc... The more you are prepared...the more confident you will be...which means less anxiety!

Your Audience is Your Friend

One of the tips that really helped me overcome public speaking anxiety was told to me by an old business friend of mine. It seems kind of obvious or even childish but I could really care less because it works! All you have to do is while you're writing your speech or thinking of what to say, just pretend that you are talking to a good friend of yours who is interested in what you have to say. If you speak to the audience as if they were your good friend, then you will come off as very down-to-earth and natural...which is a very good thing in public speaking.

One of the best all time tips that I have ever heard about public speaking and how to overcome public speaking anxiety is actually one of the most simple. All you have to do is, right before you are about to give your speech, get in the correct mindset by closing your eyes and repeating the following to yourself inside your head about 5 times: "Everyone is a guest to my reality." You may be wondering how in the heck this is going to help you out, but I assure you that it will "magically" boost your confidence, individualism, charisma, etc... You will simply be yourself when you're giving your speech.
