EFT, The Natural Alternative to Combat Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Today I'm going to examine some natural alternatives to dealing with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) such as Emotional Freedom Technique as opposed to using drugs.
We know that the Idea of altering your thought process either on your own or via psychotherapy can alter brain metabolism this is not new, and it's repeated over and over by numerous sources because studies have shown that altering thoughts can directly change your blood flow.
So, it stands to reason that for those who are suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder and prefer not to go the medication route taking a closer look at how EFT tapping can significantly impact our thought process would be well worth giving a try.
If you're really stuck and having trouble getting past the anxiety perhaps a trained professional is the right way to go otherwise lets explore the possibilities here. What Thoughts are you Repeating?
If you think about it, and examined your thoughts you would find that there is a pattern of repetitive thoughts during course of the day but the issue here is not the thoughts or how many but rather the quality of the thoughts we are having.Thoughts that are persistently focused on negativity are the ones that will trigger the stress response the fight or flight this is why CB therapy often works well because we are getting a new perspective on the situation and given alternatives that can change behavior.
Tap on the Negative Aspects
EFT does that as well, during the set up phrase you are acknowledging the problem and while tapping on the first round bringing up the negative aspects your engaging your sub conscious mind, on the next round of tapping we then bring in the positive affirmations so in essence you are actively engaging in a conversation with yourself the two parts of you the conscious mind which knows they want change, and the subconscious mind which is holding on to the negative programming.And let me tell you, that subconscious part will resist you at all cost unless you're consciously committed to the change process. This is where EFT helps you to let go of the unwanted aspects the negative programming that is running 24/7 and as you can see by the previous post Insomnia is a big issue for those with GAD because the thoughts just don't stop they are repetitive so your experience will be that of the quality of your thoughts, think about that!
Natural Alternatives Include...
Other alternatives that can be incorporated along with an EFT regime include:Meditation
In one recent study, meditation was reported to increase release of dopamine. The study by Perreau-Linck and colleagues is the first to report that self-induced changes in mood can influence serotonin synthesis
Exposure to Light
Exposure to bright light is a second possible approach to increasing serotonin without drugs. Bright light has been a standard treatment for seasonal depression, but now a few studies have been also suggesting that it is an effective treatment for non seasonal depression.
Exercise
Of course exercise is a well known one, it's been well documented that a steady exercise regime has shown a correlation in elevating mood all lines of research suggest that exercise increases brain serotonin function in the human brain.
Finding the right answers for you takes commitment, and persistence it may be a combination of all these things but you won't know unless you try and EFT is simple enough to learn and implement give it a try!

- It's amazing how effective simple EFT is at relieving anxiety. I've never studied with a therapist or anything, but just learning and doing it on my own has made a big difference in my anxiety levels.
