It is often a chain reaction of negatives that leads a person into further low self esteem issues. These tips will help you in overcoming low self esteem.

One trigger incident will lower a persons self esteem, and so on the cycle goes. It takes a mentally strong person to rise above poor self esteem issues and realize that they are a great person.

There are a lot of signs of low self-esteem. The most common signs of self-esteem include:

1. A person that shows signs of low self-esteem often feels guilty and thus torture themselves about every small event in their daily lives.

2. Another sign of low self-esteem is fearing things that they are uncertain of. This can be caused by negative expressions coupled with no self-love, a lack of belief in yourself and the absence of trust.

3. Someone with signs of low self-esteem can be ashamed of themselves because of the secrets that they have about themselves. Oftentimes this means that the person will try to 'be perfect' so that they will be accepted by others.

4. A person with signs of low self-esteem will have an unrealistic expectation of perfection in others also, and when others do not live up to this they have a hard time forgiving these people.

5. Another sign of low self-esteem is a lack of trust, which is caused by you not engaging others honestly.

6. Another sign of low self-esteem is focusing on your own perceived limits instead of focusing upon growing and improving.

7. Many people who have a sign of low self-esteem regard themselves as 'worth less' than others.

You can become a confident person by first addressing the issues that are causing your low self esteem, then working with a professional to overcome them.

Many people are able to overcome low self esteem on their own, without the assistance of a psychologist or councilor, but these people are extremely reliant and confident in their ability to break out of the low self esteem cycle.

There are a variety of ways how to build self-esteem.

This includes positive self-talk, developing new skills, doing the thing you enjoy doing, exercising, having good relationships and helping others who are less fortunate than yourself.

By receiving praise from others, your confidence will increase dramatically. It is no secret that people love to be recognized and praised, and you are no different.

However, one way how to build self-esteem that a lot of people never stop to think about is letting go of your need to control everything. Usually this stems back to childhood whenever your parents more than likely compared you to other children who were behaving better than you.

Television also has the bad habit of comparing people to one another and placing unrealistic expectations on how people should look.

If you are trying to save your relationship, there is a number of things you can do. First, be a good listener. If you listen carefully to what your partner says to you, you may be able to hear what they are saying. If there are always complaining about what seems to be the little things, there is a bigger problems. Be observant and start doing things that will make him or her feel special. What most people don't realize is people are in love with someone because of the way the other person makes them feel so if you make them feel special, they will stay with you forever. Remember, this is not a one occasion deal, this is something you should do very often.
