Overcoming Shyness Is Possible
Many people suffer with shyness and wonder if they have to live with it or Is overcoming shyness possible? Almost everyone feels shy or anxious at one time or another. Sometimes it's butterflies in your stomach when you walk into a room full of strangers or breaking into a sweat when it's your turn to give a speech. More than half of all people fear speaking in public. Shyness can be an occasional case of jitters all the way up to a disabling disorder that can wreck havoc on your entire life.
You can improve the quality of your life by calming these fears and overcoming your shyness. Anxiety from being shy is your automatic response to a perceived danger. Your body then releases stress hormones which can cause your heart to race, your face to flush, your palms to sweat, your muscles to contract and a queasy feeling in your stomach.
People tend to escape their shyness by avoiding social situations. Sometimes people don't think of themselves as shy. They say that they just don't like parties or don't like making presentations, when in fact, they are really shy.
The more that you avoid these social situations that cause you anxiety, the more ingrained these fears and your shyness become. Avoiding these situations is the opposite of what you should be doing. To overcome shyness and rid yourself of these fears, you must confront them.
I highly recommend a technique called NLP which many of the self help gurus use that helps with overcoming shyness and improving self confidence. It really works. To find out more about it, visit NLP Secrets.
Why Are You Shy?
How To Overcome Shyness
There are two main reasons why people are shy. These are the fear of embarrassment and the fear of being judged. People are afraid they will say something that is embarrassing or that people consider foolish or stupid. So, how can I overcome this shyness?Begin by taking small steps to do the things that frighten you. You don't have to try and be the life of the party, just make it a goal to talk to one or two people. Give yourself a pat on the back when you accomplish this goal. The more of these little steps you take, the more the fear will lessen. This is how you begin overcoming your shyness.

You also need to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. Don't think that the worst will happen in a situation. Rehearse and visualize situations that make you nervous. Playing it out in your mind ahead of time, and seeing positive results, makes it much easier once you are in the situation. This is an excellent way to help overcome low self esteem and overcome your shyness.Daily meditation is extremely helpful with shyness and anxiety. It calms your mind and reduces your stress. If you are unfamiliar with how to meditate, there are many great audios that will guide you into a deep relaxing meditative state.
