Help for the Novice Stock Investor

- View ASX listed companies sorted by company name. Alternatively, download the complete list (CSV 85KB). You can make your own MS Access searchable database (how-to link to be provided)
- Market Sector Indices Overviews (ASX)
- Companies are assigned an industry classification according to the company's principal business. Those companies with the same business activity are grouped to form market sector indices.
- Market Sector Indices Updated Hourly
- Updated data from Business Day. Shows Sector Index price, movement, turnover and volume. There is a link to the sector chart with custom charting options.
- Free Charting from the ASX website
- Excellent facility for charting of shares and share indices. Comparisons can be made. ***** 5 stars
- Free Basic Charting (Yahoo Finance)
- Enter the ASX company code or stock market index code to chart the day's trading. Change to different time frames, chart line type and compare between two stocks and the All Ordinaries.
- Free Technical Analysis (Yahoo Finance)
- Use Yahoo's free technical analysis.
- Aussie Stock Forums
- Communicate with other like-minded people. To register, you need an email address from a PRIVATE server (website). That is, not one of the free web-based ones like hotmail, live.com.au, yahoo, etc. This done to limit spam and abuse.
The All Ordinaries Index
Original Analyses and Forecasts
A target bottom for the All Ordinaries Index is likely at 4050, the 50% retracement since the 5049 top. However, note the caveat for a different bottom. Should the 50% level not hold, a bottom could form all the way down to the lower trendline at about 3300.
