My Lensography - A Squidoo Addict - Who Me!!
Ok so it's true - I don't look like a koala. Truth is I don't have any photo's of myself so the koala will just have to do.
I stumbled upon Squidoo by accident one day and it seemed like just the thing I was looking for - an opportunity to experiment and learn. Being technically challenged (read that as don't know much about computers or the internet) it seemed the perfect place for me.
What I didn't expect at all, was that it really does become addictive. I have read comments by many other Squidooers who have said the same thing. Why? Perhaps it is the opportunity to learn, to express your views and feelings. Perhaps it is the friendly, helpful attitude of fellow Squidooers. Perhaps it is for a moment of fame when you do well with your lens. Who knows - but whatever the reason I find myself increasingly interested in Squidooing. Oh my - does this mean I could be in danger of becoming a Squidaholic.
It might seem a bit odd creating a lensography when I don't have many lenses yet, but I figured if I do it now I'll be organised. See - I'm already planning more.

Who said Koala's are a bit slow on the uptake? We can plan stuff - OK.
Look, just go and check out what Oztoo's been doing then maybe I can go back to sleep!

A Few Things About Me

Just a bit of trivia.
-
An only child, I was born in England
I came to Australia with my parents when I was sixteen.
I'm married with two grown up children.
I live in an old colonial style cottage with lovely rural views, with my husband Rod.
I enjoy painting and other crafts as the fancy takes me. I especially like to paint circular saws and cross cut saws.
I love to read science fantasy novels, although I'll happily read just about anything - except soppy Mills & Boone.
My favorite drink is tea. I love the smell of coffee, just hate the taste.
I am a Rocketmom - currently participating in the third session of Rocketmoms.

What's so Great About Rocketmoms

A week after I published my very first lens I was invited to join Rocketmoms. The third session was starting just a few days later so I decided to join up.
I have to say that I waited with some trepidation for that first assignment. Being so computer illiterate I wondered what I was getting into. Bonnie publishes the assignments on Sunday's around midnight. This means that in Oz I get them about 1 o clock on Monday afternoon.
Well it took me all week to complete that first assignment. Some of the other Rocketmoms finished theirs the next day. I thought I would never keep up. There were so many things I didn't know how to do. Even worse some of these ladies created other lenses at the same time. How the heck do they do it I wondered.
Suffice to say that as each week and each assignment went by I got a little better, a little quicker and a little bit more confident. I learned how to do things to make my lenses look more appealing (I hope), put affiliate links in, where to find free graphics and pictures and many other things.
I also learned that once you start researching your topic all sorts of ideas start to come to you. Things just start to pop up and you think "I could make a lens about that". I used to wonder how you could write so many lenses to become a Giant Squid or even why you would even want too. Now I know why.

It is addictive. It's also fun. And if you get stuck there's always someone to ask for advise. What better introduction could you have to creating your own space on the world wide web. Rocketmoms gives you that little bit of a push - a challenge - to stretch yourself just a little bit further than you thought you could go.
At time of writing I have just two assignments left before this session of Rocketmoms finishes. And I believe I'm going to miss it when it's all over.
Yippee, I've just graduated from session 3 of Rocketmom's with 9 lenses to my name.

You can learn more about Rocketmoms at Rocketmoms HQ
Just an update:
I have just finished session 4 of Rocketmoms and now have 26 completed lenses.
The point is that the list steadily keeps growing and I keep on adding more.
Made Giant Squid with the June 2010 intake.

- Your have an impressive collection of lenses here on some interesting topics. I already love your nature ones but will need to check out the others too.
It must have been quite an experience moving from Yorkshire to Australia! I've never been to your side of the world, but have visited Yorkshire and thought it was lovely, especially for a nature lover. So perhaps that is where your appreciation of nature began?
