Sea kayaking for beginners, paddle and play
As the popularity of sea kayaking grows around the world so do the number of centers offering this fun activity, which is after all a wonderful way to explore the coast and spot wild life. Even though there are many people willing to jump into a sea kayak, especially when on holiday in a warm climate, lets face it it doesn't get much better than splashing about in your swim suit on a warm summers day! There are equally as many people who would like a go but are worried about falling in, not being able to do it! going round in circles, not being fit enough or being eaten by sharks!! OK the last one is highly unlikely, especially after they killed Jaws some 30 years ago! but the other concerns are sufficient to stop people from having a go at this enjoyable activity. Imagine if no one put your fears to rest before you learnt to drive, there would be hardly any cars on our roads! hang on that's not such a bad idea, well at least in rush hour those brave enough to learn to drive would actually be able to rush!
Paddle and play
Sea kayaking for beginners
We have been pondering these thoughts, the ones about kayaking not the driving ones, and thought it would be a good idea to lay some of the fears to rest, to not drag some poor unsuspecting individual on a sea kayak marathon normally suited to super heros and nutters! I remember several years ago while attending a sailing course which meant spending a week on a yacht off the North Wales coast, chatting to one of the other students, it turned out that he was Japanese and was traveling through Europe for the summer, but because his English was not that good he had signed up for a weeks course thinking he was actually going on a day trip to see the seals and dolphins! He was very relieved to finally get off the yacht!Learning from these experiences we decided to bring even more fun into our sea kayaking and aim it a beginners that just wanted a go without the pressure of actually going any where or to end the day with shoulder muscles like Rambo, so was born our paddle and play sessions.
These sessions are run by Neil who is a British Canoe Union sea kayak coach, you will be well looked after and given a taste of paddling one of our sea kayaks in a peaceful location.
The sessions last for about 2.5 - 3 hours with plenty of time to relax on the beach, go for a swim, sit and watch the others or go for a short trip.
We will meet at a quiet beach where you will get instruction on getting into the kayaks, paddling and staying the right way up!
There is no pressure on anyone to actually go any where, these session are ideal for children as well as adults, don't forget your camera to capture those golden moments.
Paddle and play is exactly how it sounds, its all about fun and having a new experience, ever tried standing up in a kayak? cameras at the ready because it ends up in getting wet!
We have a selection of double and single seat kayaks and during this session you can swap about and have a go in different designs of kayak.
Sea kayaking is all about exploring and we aim to give you the confidence to start thinking, "what's round the next corner?". If the group wants to have a look round the corner then thats exactly what we will do.
If you would like to go sea kayaking but don't want to go for a full day or dont have the time, may be you just want to relax on the beach while the kids burn off some energy or may be the kids want to laugh at mum and dad getting wet! then our paddle and play is the choice for you.
Sea kayaks, single and double seat and different designs.
Boyancy aids, paddles and any other equipment needed for kayaking.
Dry bags to store your valuables.
Mask, snorkel and flippers, great for watching the action from a different angle ;-)

- I have actually never been kayaking. Canoes, fishing boats, ski boats, etc., yes, but never a kayak. I will have to give it a try sometime.
