Explore the Many Facets of Paganism

Magazines are just as popular with Pagans as they are with the general population. This article is a listing of some of the most well-known magazines and some you might never have heard of that are either completely Pagan oriented or cover other topics of interest to Pagans.

From Pagan lite to more academic and sometimes tome-like publications, you're sure to find something to suit your tastes. This list will be continually growing. Please feel free to let me know about your favorite Pagan magazine in the suggest section below. I would especially like to know about non-US publications.

I put links to the websites and directly to Amazon or other sites the magazines are available for purchase. Many of these titles can be found in your local metaphysical bookstore or larger chain stores like Barnes and Noble. Some smaller chains might carry them as well.

The Pagan community is vast and includes people who may have diametrically opposed beliefs and some may even resent being thrown under one big Neo-Pagan umbrella. I may not personally agree with everything that's written in these magazines. But this article is meant to provide information for anyone who are wondering about the different paths along the Pagan spectrum and help them find more info.

Heathen

Odin, Wikimedia CommonsIdunna: The quarterly journal of the Troth available from their Lulu storefront. See the link for some of the topics covered in this magazine including heathen deities and holidays.

Runa Magazine: Published by Runa-Raven Press, this magazines explores esoteric runology and the northern mysteries. I've only purchased one copy so far, but even though it seems expensive for the number of pages you get, those pages are packed with great information. The issue I have includes in-depth interviews with Nigel Pennick and articles by Edred Thorsson and others. This definitely isn't Pagan lite fare.

Hex Magazine: Devoted to "radical traditionalists and the modern heathen household."

Journal of Contemporary Heathen Thought: "A publication that seeks to foster the development and promulgation of philosophical inquiry and thought within the Heathen community."

Tyr Journal: More a book than a magazine which is possibly why it is sporadically published, but it looks well worth the wait.

Runestone Journal: Heathen publication put out by the Asatru Folk Assembly. You will have to scroll down to find Runestone. Tyr Journal is also available from this site.

Vor Tru Magazine: Heathen magazine from the Asatru Alliance.

Loverly resource for pagan media! Lol...wouldn't you love to see some of these in the doctor's office?
  • Raindancer Jan 10, 2012 @ 5:48 pm | delete
Wouldn't that be the coolest thing?! I'm all for Highlights for Children and the ever present sports mags, but if they can put out Guideposts and Daily Bread for patients to read while they wait, why not Circle Sanctuary and some of the other lovely, informative periodicals for the ever growing population of pagans?
