Does Page Rank Matter?
A lot of people think Page Rank (PR) matters. They believe the higher your PR the higher you get placed in the search engines.
PR has had it's day and is totally pointless these days!!
Page Rank is for link whores only and does not help in any way shape or form to rank in the search engines.

PR Does matter, For Web Directories it does the most, the more the PR of the directory, the More the directory will charge for each link submission, Also blogs look ahead to increase their blog PR so it can be sold at a rate and they can sell backlinks by link ads and blog posts.
All sites need and give backlinks for PR.
So the moral of the story is,
PR IS IMPORTANT, if not then upto some extent !

Page Rank certainly matters to Google. It's still one of the important factors in their ranking algorithm. Not worth getting caught up in the toolbar page rank so much, but it certainly makes a difference in ranking.

PageRank do matter indirectly, coz if you have high PR your link approval ratio will increase and as a result you'll get tons of backlinks with Keywords in Anchor Text. And I am sure everyone here knows how important an anchor text is for ranking website.

I've had well optimized low page rank sites outperform numerous highly ranked sites. There's a Page Rank element to the Google algorithm but it's not the number shown in your toolbar.
