Opinion polls help businesses decide everything from the color of their packaging to the price they charge for a new product. Consumer opinions are so important to businesses, in fact, that they are willing to pay people money for those opinions. That's where online paid surveys come in.

For example, you might just get hit with a lot of unwanted email or just get burned out because you put in a lot of effort and don't make much money. Those are not that serious. But on the more severe end of the spectrum, you could actually get scammed out of your money instead of making money. The first thing that you have to understand is that businesses rarely if ever do their own market research. They outsource this to market research companies who specialize in gathering consumer opinions. So you will be dealing with Market Research Companies (MRCs) when you do Paid Surveys online.

Market Research Companies come in all different varieties. Just like any industry, there are some big names (like Nielsen, Ipsos, Greenfield and Synovate) and there are some little research companies trying to carve a niche for themselves.

The big businesses pay the MRCs to do market studies for them. They give the MRC a budget, and then the MRC develops the survey questions, gets people to respond, and then pays the participants (that's you).

Some MRCs will compensate you for each survey with a specific monetary payout. Other MRCs will pool the money together and do sweepstakes drawings so that you have opportunities to win larger amounts. Most surveys you take will range from $2-$10, but there are some that range into the $20-$30 area. Occasionally there may be a focus group that will pay quite a bit more.

The key thing to understand is that you need to sign up with as many of these different Market Research Companies in order to get as many paid survey opportunities as you can. If you only sign up with a few, you may only get an occasional offer and may only make $10-$15 a month. If that's all you want, I can show you which MRCs to use to achieve that goal.

But most people are looking to make a little more. If you want to make more than $100 per month with online surveys, then you must sign up with multiple MRCs.

The question is, how do you know which ones to sign up with? How do I even know how to find them? Are they legitimate companies?
