Oil paint for everyone

Many are amazed by things that they cannot control, let alone do not understand. Oil painting is an ancient expression of passion on the walls of caves, in the halls of the most prestigious museums some pay hundreds or thousands to see, to the homes of the privileged millionaires that most eyes won't see. The elegance will be uncovered in this lens. No not under the skirt of America, but the absence of an unconscious thought of most people can't see the power they hold within.

Most people are afraid that critics will take their works that they pour their heart and soul into- will be trumped by a bad attitude. I will in this lens show step by step how to make a masterpiece for yourself. Remember believing in yourself will create wonders for the world!!

Let the Art Guide YOu

This Is How YOU Get Started!!

The first thing is to have all of your supplies:

For oil stretched canvas is the best, but any medium will suit as long as it belongs to you.

Hogs hair brushes are said to be the best (make sure you have one to mix and one to do more detailed work).

A wax disposable pallet is optimal to mix on, but any wood surface will do (as long as it belongs to you).

A drying agent like liquin is very useful, but not critical.

An apron would be a good idea if your wearing nice clothes

"Last but not least" Don't feel like you need an expensive easel to paint- just put some newspaper down on the kitchen table.

Ten to thirty blends

Blending is a great way to help the colors flow

Take a glob of paint with your mixing brush and move the paint in a circle untill it is mixed out of its original state- then make about ten piles of equal size of paint. The more paint the deeper the color you are making in the weight of the color.

Sounds more complicated than it is. Use your best judgment to keep the piles equal. Once you have made the tenth pile. Introduce another color and repeat the big pile than ten little piles method. Once you have finished the tenth pile use the rest of the paint on the brush to mix half of the first set of piles. Make sure to leave five original piles of both colors.

Their are no rules about one color to the next, but colors love to blend with colors they have been mixed with. Now you are ready to paint

Horizontal Strokes

A back and forth motion like a metronome is a great way to start spin the brush independently of the action. The point is to use all the paint on the brush, but also to have a constant change of thin to thick lines.

Don't worry about what you are making just let it happen. This is the biggest problem with most people because they believe they are not in control unless they can understand an exact plan for the painting. Don't force it and it will come naturally. Let go of all your wanting for the painting and and fill it with color. The next step is important to finding the painter within you.

Spining the art

I bet you are thinking am I restricted to just left to right motion. The answer is no obviously. When the painting is rotated or when you rotate the angle the horizontal will become vertical automatically. Keep the spin of the brush independent of the other strokes again to use all the paint on the brush.

Many times I will rotate the painting and have found that I painted something sideways or upside down. When a corner or side has color go to the next corner or side. This is an important step to keep the flow of the painting in motion.

If the painting starts to get too saturated or too wet??? Stop what your doing and give the painting a couple of days to dry and start again.

Where have all the artist's gone??
