Paintball - Be Prepared! 10 things you need in your gear bag.

Ranked #1,545 in Sports & Recreation, #44,474 overall

Paintball Gear - Are you ready?

Just like the Boy Scouts, when planning a paintball outing you need to "Be Prepared". Nothing can sour your day more than not having a simple essential. I bet you can think of things to add to this list. Tailor it to your needs and never get caught short at the field.

Paintball Gear Bag Items

In no particular order of importance:

#1 Paintball Gun Oil

Not GUN OIL or WD40 or sewing machine oil. Paintball Gun Oil, or if you must, air tool oil will work.

#2 Squeegie/swab

Even the best paint will find a way to break in your marker. A swab is good for a quick fix while on the field. In the safe zone a pull through does the most thorough job.

#3 Hex wrenches

It makes me crazy when someone asks me for a wrench so they can adjust their $1500 gun. Ok, so it makes me crazy anytime anyone needs to borrow a tool. Have something that will remove every fastener on your marker. And NO, that does not mean one set of locking pliers.

Paintball peaked in 2004 and has seen a decline in the past few years yet it is still among the top 5 adventure sports in the world.

#4 Rag/Micro Cloth

Despite what most think, that one dry spot left on your shirt sleeve is not a good place to wipe a lens. Even a roll of toilet paper would be better (It might come in handy for other things!).

#5 Anti Fog/Lens cleaner

Believe me when I tell you there isn't an anti-fog spray in the world that works as advertised. But something is better than nothing. Combine it with a good lens cleaner and you will be prepared for those "gog" shots (goggle hits).

#6 Squirt bottle with soapy water

I use Dawn liquid dish soap on everything. It cuts greasy paint off everything. It doesn't need to be a big bottle. You don't want to open your bag and find a puddle at the bottom. If you know the field has water you can squirt just a bit of soap into an old marker oil bottle and fill it when you get there and dump it before you leave.

#7 Tank orings

Extra orings for your marker are nice but the weak link in the world of paintball orings is the tank oring.

#8 Batteries

Even if your marker and hopper doesn't need them bring them anyway. Your buddies will need them and they'll pay a small fortune for them. Nine volt and double A's are the standard.

It is estimated that there are currently more than 12 million paintball players worldwide in well over 100 different countries.

#9 Drinks/Energy Snacks

It might be a field paint only affair but most places will let you bring some food. Toss a sports drink in the freezer the night before your outing and after the drive and a few games it will be cold and ready to drink. Trail mix has always been my half time choice.

#10 First Aid kit

You don't have to pack for open heart surgery. Something for bug bites and briar patch scratches will do. A few bandaids and a small bottle of disinfectant doesn't take up much room.
