What a great idea! I like to do some decorative painting and I wonder why I never thought of wooden eggs? 5* I'm working on an easter egg design lens and I'll be sure and feature this there.

Beeauuutiful eggs! I've painted papier mache eggs, but I've never tried wood. I may have to give them a try next year.

What a great idea. We don't have children in the house, but still like the tradition of coloring eggs. I'll have to try it next year. Great idea for a lens. Voting it up at Carnival of Squids

Thank you for this lovely idea! I grew up dyeing and eating Chicken's eggs, and now that I'm vegan wondered what the alternatives could be. I don't have any children yet, but I know that my family will want to grill me about what I could do to participate in the festivities this year, and since my youngest siblings are only 12 and 8 (and budding artists) this will be something I'll suggest to my mom to use instead of Chicken's eggs! Thanks again!

A wonderful and informative lens. Five stars

Great idea, it is kind of waste of time to paint an egg and then eat it or toss it. I always ate them, but they tasted gross (don't worry, they weren't out long enough to spoil -- I think?). This is a much better option.

Great ideas! I'd hate to put so much work and effort into painting a real egg!

What a great idea. We will be painting wooden eggs this year. Great 5* lens.

What a beautiful idea. We have used boiled eggs that the boys have painted over the years. Some of them they thought to put the year on so it is cool for them that they know where we lived when they did that egg.

I hope you will consider adding your lens to my new Easter Time group.

Great idea! Wooden eggs don't get thrown out the day after Easter, great keepsake

I can't wait to do this with my daughter - what a wonderful tradition you have started!

This is a great idea. I love that you put your daughter's footprint on her first egg. Delightful!

This is a great idea! I only believe you should use food for play if you're planning on eating it after, so having an alternative to real eggs is so great! I couldn't eat a dozen eggs worth of egg salad just to have enough for decorating. Plus, we only use Free-Run eggs, which are usually of the brown variety, and don't dye quite as nicely.

    Welcome to the Family Time group! * * * * *

5* ...did these for a craft show about 20 yrs ago...my kids have done a couple for me as keepsakes...great craft and great lens!

What an adorable idea. My kids made a mess every year. I have to admit it was fun, but painting eggs with brushes and sponges would be too.
    Great lens
