Painting Your Home In the Right Color

But what if it isn't that easy? What if your room is already decorated and you're just trying to decide on a color of paint that won't wreck the beautiful setup you have already created for yourself?
Never fear. It's easy to choose paint colors that won't upset the balance of an otherwise perfectly designed room. For instance, if your room is decorated in an Asian style with Sakura flowers and Chinese symbols, you should look around and decide which colors are most prominent amongst your knick knacks and wall hangings. Your bedspread can also be a wonderful place to get inspiration. Most likely you'll end up with a light shade of bronze or a deep brown that will highlight your room and make it seem more relaxing and more like an Asian spa.
But you don't always have to rely on your knick knacks to help you out with your paint color selection, especially if your room is mostly devoid of wall hangings and small decorative items. The best place to get inspiration for your wall colors is your area rug. If you have a large, beautiful area rug in the room that you can't take your eyes off of; and that you want to become the focal point of your room; choose the color you'd like to highlight in your area rug and paint the walls the same color. It will not only bring a new ambiance to your room but will also make your rug look even more beautiful than it did before you painted your home.

Of course, don't forget that if you just can't think of a color you'd like to use, or you haven't yet invested in area rugs for your home, the best thing you can do is stick with neutral colors or white. A light off-white, a tan, or a sandy color will give your home new life, reflect sunlight and bring a sense of clam to your home that you won't be able to get by simply leaving it alone.
Remember, whether you're choosing a new color or sticking with white, a fresh coat of paint can do wonders for any room.
