HERE'S WHAT I THINK
I have been using PSP for over a decade. Though I admit that I am partial to the older versions pre-Corel, I won't give up yet. I tend to flip back and forth between several versions of PSP on my computer, and I think that even if I bought the latest Photoshop I'd still use PSP.
What about you? There are several ways for you to share your thoughts below.
For the digital artist's that sell their wares on Zazzle or Cafepress (or other on-line marketplaces), you'll find several link Plexos to list your shop according to the program you use.

I use PSP. Found it more user friendly for getting started with this sort of software. I have several friends who purchased PHOTOSHOP and now it just sets there getting dusty because using it is like interpreting hieroglyphics if you are a casual user.

Paintshop Pro X2 is easy to use and does what it says. I've been using it for years and I must say although all the Photo editing magazines have tutorials for Photoshop you know why.

yeah, Photoshop is good and maybe the best editing tool, but it is coarse... its not user friendly... i always prefer PSP... its powerful and quick! PSP is genius.

the main difference is PSP has a simpler UI, which is useful when photo editing to certain extents, in theory it means that its more useful for most things compared to photoshop, of course some features of photoshop make it a essential program to have, but because its more compact is has less connective functionality between some tools. both are useful, but personally I use paint shop pro on a more common basis.

I have used PSP since the days of free downloads from the net, stopped at version 7 and then jumped to X2, I do also use Photoshop and elements6 but cannot see how the price can be justified for CS3/4 for what they do, I have been involved in Photo manipulation for around 14 years now and photography about 40 so I am not new to this. The price tag alone for Adobe is for professional users and studios, not for the content in this day and age, which is a shame. On another note I have just tried Lightroom2 and what is that all about at £200 having worked with it solidly for 5 days now ( 10 hour days ) it is something I would pay £40 for and use now and agai, the benefit of having this software is what? just get a few plug in filters for X2 and you have saved £140.
I have tried to be unbiased in this reply but it is hard when individuals cash is at stake, especially in this day and age, so with your £500 buy a fast machine and a copy of X2 some filters and you have a much better production office than if you had purchased CS3/4

I use PSP9 for all my digital scrapbooking. Haven't tried Photoshop, but I can't see why I'd need it. I love my Print Shop.

I honestly can't say whether PS is better, but I love my Paint Shop Pro X2 program. No complaints.

PSP is absolutely the best. AT least until Corel bought it and ruined it. All of my digital art and line art coloring pages are created with PSP9. And I am a professional artist.

PSP rocks... Adobe are greedy, Corel remembers us, the small guys. Therefore Ill use psp, even if it lacks in a few minor areas.

PSP is much easier to use letting you get great results quicker. Its also affordable. In fact I recently bought Photoshop Elements and it is inferior to PSP in my opinoin.

PSP wins. My personal opinion is that PSP cuts out multiple steps that PS has you do. Using effects in PSP is far easier then PS. PS however is on a higher level for professionals, but PSP is a great solution that want the same final product, at a lower price.

You're nuts, Photoshop is best.

Oh man, don't have a clue about PSP, never used it...so I have to say PHOTOSHOP all the way! ;-)

Photoshop owns hands down, if your anything into or near professional get Photoshop. If not stick to the cheesy wannabe software that tries to compete with something that 90% of pros use, Photoshop isn't hard but does require an apt mind. Depending on what you do with or how far you take something it tends to treat its users accordingly, certain things are easier to do than others while others may require further incite. I will say one thing though, it is worth the horrible price tag, for a 3d animator like myself what is a $600 Photoshop when I own a $3000 3d software to go along with it :P

Photoshop is the best IF you know how to use it. All the different functionality features allow you to manipulate your photo or artwork in so many different ways--it is just awesome. Combine that with the integrated Design Suite Concept which allows you to take what you have edited in Photoshop and easily move it to Illustrator or GoLive for additional editing and would have to say that Photoshop is DEFINITELY the best!

PSP was a disappointment. CPU on my dual core peaked. PSP freezes and crashes! Spent hours editing D200 NEF, with short freeze and finally crash. Things that I could expect from a beta release but not on such a high profile product. PS is not worth the money, but still; it is (unfortunately) still without competition. My wallet will cry!

I've been using PSP since it was a freebie on the Net. Truth is that I have always liked it better than Adobe. If anything I think they're trying too hard to look like big software now that Corel bought Paint Shop Pro. I don't like the media catalog ... which continues to slow down what I really want to use the program for.
