Worst Vice Presidential Candidate in History Seeks the Top of the TIcket in 2012

Robert J. Ellsberg writes that Sarah Palin is the "worst vice presidential pick in history".  Sarah Palin was the mayor of a small town for six years, and Governor of Alaska for two years before she quit that position. She has absolutely no national public service experience.  Her only legislative experience has been to sit on the council of what most honestly could be called a village.

In 2008, Sarah Palin asked to be placed first in the line to become President of the United States, running with the oldest presidential candidate in American history. Now, Palin is campaigning to become the Republican Party's presidential candidate herself for the 2012 election.

The combination of Sarah Palin's inexperience, her tendency to speak before thinking, and her involvement in abuse-of-power scandals as Governor suggested that indeed, Sarah Palin was the worst vice presidential candidate ever.  Heck, there are even polar bears against Palin.


Is it possible that, in 2012, the GOP will make Sarah Palin its nominee for President of the United States?

Well, that depends on whether the American people pay attention to detail or are superficial. If the American people are superficial and just say, "Hey, change!" regardless of Palin's policy preference for using government to shove her religious standards down others' throats, then the strategy may well work. Unfortunately, I think the American people are pretty darned superficial.

No way! Choosing Palin would be insane.

No all religious people support Sarah Palin. If you go to squidoo.com/palinsucks you will see that historically, the people who supported church/state really do not have any sound understanding of the words of Christ. They have caused all manner of evil, including waging religious wars, killing people for their religious views, etc. Christ said that his kingdom was not of this world, so his servants should not fight the authorities of this world. I don't view the dominionists, who want to "convert" the world by force as being true Christians. I believe they are off the mark. I would not say that there is no truth in the world, but I just don't happen to believe that Palin has it.

I guess I feel it was the wrong choice for McCain for larger reasons that his campaign success or failure. I respected him as a man (though I wasn't going to vote for him) until I became disenchanted that he would bring her to the forefront of national politics-- to potentially linger in our future for years to come. She represents all that is ugly in us, hawkish, narrow minded, crass, the anti-thesis of learned...she may represent "common", but I pray she doesn't represent us as "typical". I am certain she doesn't inspire us to be better or more.

Well, she was mayor in a city that had a supervisor doing the work and still tried to fire the head librarian because she wouldn't get rid of 'offensive' books. That is the good news about her.

McCain choose her for the same reason the Bush I choose Quail, they have no respect for women.

Sarah Palin is inexperienced, unready for the presidency, and espouses political ideology too far off in the right wing world of Creationism and marriage bigotry. Plus, Palin is in the middle of political scandal about her abuse of power and unethical behavior as Governor. What a dumb pick for McCain!

Palinisms

A Palinism is an expression of the essential character of Sarah Palin: Ideologically extreme and intellectually incoherent.

Sarah Palin is a unique character: She claims to be a pit bull with lipstick, but runs scared from reporters who ask simple questions. She has enough confidence to support extreme ideas, but lacks the mental coherence to explain why she supports those ideas. Mixed metaphors, dangling fragments of arguments mix with archaic superstitions and absolute faith in the knowledge of the fate of the universe all come create the creature that we know as Sarah Palin.

A Palinism is an expression from the lips of Sarah Palin, that reveals this character of incoherent certainty. For example, there was the time that Sarah Palin worried about Putin's head entering American air space. There was the toxic sludge on Wall Street that Sarah Palin promised to cure. There was Sarah Palin's idea for cutting government spending: A new program to give hundreds of billions of government money to Wall Street.
