My favorite subject to study in English class was Greek mythology.
My favorite of the Greek Gods is Athena - who is known as a goddess of wisdom and war, which is an interesting combination, but is also patroness of weaving especially and other crafts as well.
My grandmother brought me back a statuette of Athena when she went on a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea, which included several stops in Greece. I was thrilled to have it, because she is my favorite.
She is a predominant character in many Greek myths and stories, including The Odyssey. This lens will showcase some of the legends she plays a part in, to demonstrate why she is my favorite.
Here are some websites about Athena so you can learn more about her history.

You can read more about Athena at Wikipedia
In Greek mythology, Athena (also called Athene, Attic: , Ath?nâ, or , Ath?n?; Doric: , Asána; Latin: Minerva) is the shrewd companion of heroes and the goddess of heroic endeavour. She is the virgin patron of Athens, which built the Parthenon to worship her. In a temple at Phrixa in Elis, which was reportedly built by Clymenus, she was known as Cydonia.Smith, Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology.

One of my favorite myths involving Athena is the story or Arachne
As you can probably guess, Arachne is where the word "arachnid" for Spider comes from. Read the myth to learn how why she lent her name to the spider.
Arachne was a great mortal weaver. She boasted that her skill was greater than that of Athena the goddess of crafts, which resulted in a contest between her and the goddess. In the end the goddess turned Arachne into a spider.
Arachne simply means "spider" (??????) in classical Greek.
Are you a fan of Greek Mythology too? Which God or Goddess do you prefer?
