The famous "PALMY"
Palmerston North, a small provincial city in the North Island of New Zealand or "PALMY" was once tagged "Suicide Town" John Cleese.
Surley it can't be that dull and boring as to induce suicide.. There is heaps to do in Palmerston North... like driving clock-wise around the square for endless hours with the local boy racers. Duck Feeding. Puke on the footpath dodging, laughing at 1st year Massey University students doing the Sunday morning "walk of shame"...
Also there is a library and a duck pond - how can that be boring? For the more adventurous there are stock cars, golf, cow tipping and for those really brave, KFC (almost certain to give you food poisoning).

DUCK!
many ducks..
See.. Ducks. Fun for feeding. Palmy ducks actually have a unique regional accent. Whereas most ducks around the world say "Quack" Palmy ducks actually say "QUUCK QUUCK". This is thought to be as they are asking the locals for "Fush and Chups" but lack the appropriate vocal anatomy.Palmy is in the middle of the Manuwatu dairy country and therefor many cows can be found in nearby fields. The cows tend to say Moo with little regional accent that can be noticed.

The Lido
Wet but good
The Lido is Palmerston North's public swimming baths - hence the name. It consists of lots of water convieniently collected in large pools.There are indoor and outdoor large deep puddles. Take a towell. If you don't like swimming best not go.
The Lido is on Botanical Road, it has a Sauna, Gym, Sunbeds, Diving boards, Olympic pool for serious swimmers, and casual pools for lunatics.
Stock Cars
Brmm Brmm - Crash!!
For the Petrol- heads there are stock cars. When you are tired of driving endlessly around the square you can pay money to watch other people drive round in circles, well ovals anyway.Pictured here is a yellow stock car - The red ones go too fast to photograph.
Occasionally one of the cars goes wonkey, or a bit falls off and the cars bang into each other. At the end of the night the cars stop making a raucus and things improve. Everyone goes home and has a jolly nice forty winks.
