A Wide Variety of Sites to See and Places to Go!

The Philippine province of Pampanga on the main island of Luzon is home to a very active economy--everything from agricultural activities to the Special Economic Zone that used to be part of the U.S. Air Force Clark Air Force Base. You can see Pampanga by driving the sometimes congested, long and leisurely MacArthur Highway or by taking the modern Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) from the Philippine Capitol of Manila. The language spoken in the province (other than the National Language of Tagalog) is called "Kampampangan"--not much resemblance at all to Tagalog, although there are a few "common words".
This Squidoo lens can't cover all aspects of this amazing province, but I'll try to present some of the highlights here! Enjoy your visit!

Agricultural Variety in Pampanga!
Agriculture and agricultural products abound in Pampanga--and some of them are listed here:
Rice--Pampanga has many active and beautiful rice paddies. You can see them being worked on with both machines and the ever-present carabao--also known as water buffalo.
Fish Farming (Tilapia)--Sometimes nestled amongst the rice paddies, the tilapia ponds bustle with activity as the fish are fed and harvested for both the market and for individuals coming to buy them as fresh as you could get them.
Fields of sugar cane also are mixed in the higher, dry plots between the tilapia ponds and the rice paddies. When we were driving through Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga, we managed to see sugar cane being harvested from some of the smaller fields.
Almost every home, whether in the barrio or in the towns and cities of Pampanga, would have a few papaya trees, and maybe a mango tree or two, and especially in the barrios, maybe a jackfruit tree.
