Cordless Phone with a Modern Look
The Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone is without doubt one of the best two line cordless phone systems I have ever come across. When the previous Panasonic 5.8 GHz phone, after about two years of use, decided to call quits and when the other handsets failed to connect to it, I made by decision to go for a product of the same brand - you can call it the success of brand marketing! This took me to buy the new Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone.
Mostly Good, A Few Complaints
I had some minor complaints with the previous Panasonic 5.8 GHz phone I possessed earlier. One being the fact that when I got a call on one handset, the other handsets showed it as a "missed call," and second being the fact that, I had to clear up the missed call list individually from each handset. But these issues seem to be rectified by the company on my new Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone. The new instrument synchronizes all the handsets and make sure that only the truly missed calls get entered into the missed call list. The integration of the different handsets removes the headache of copying the contact list into the various receivers separately. Any changes made on one phone gets automatically registered into the rest.
The phone comes with a large display that sets it apart form the rest. When the time on the phone is programmed, it functions as a clock that can be read even from the other end of the room, thanks to the bigger display!
The larger display also makes the task of identifying the caller easier. Even though the phone has the talking caller ID feature similar to the other Panasonic phones, the option to turn it off is really interesting, if you find it irritating. Believe me, I used to find it really annoying and took no time in turning off this option the moment I purchased the Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phone.
This brings me back to the only complaint I have over the phone. I still have yet to figure out how to get to one screen back. For example, after clicking the individual caller list from the main caller list, I am unable to move back to the main caller list, and am forced to start from the main menu. The presence of a simple 'back' button could have really solved my problem.
However, the phone offers me with crystal clear voice clarity. The communications are clear and you can hear the speaker very easily. Unlike my old phone, the Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless does not come with the annoying feature of "voice enhancer".
I tried out the strength of the connectivity by standing about seven or eight houses away, and to my amazement, the connection was still rock solid! In spite of living in a suburban setting, there is no interference or static, even from my microwave and other electronic devices. It also does not hamper with the wireless computer network connection.
To me, the visual voicemail list was the biggest selling point of the phone. The easy navigation presented by the handset to go through the messages, including the option to listen to the messages in any order, to save or delete them gave the added advantage. As the messages are tagged with the caller ID information, it is great!
Another improvement to the device is the lit keypad that makes the task of calling in the dark painless!
All in all, I feel the Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless 2-line phone system do deserve a five-star rating.
Positive: Large and well lit display, message list (choicemail), automatic integration of all handsets.
Negative: The absence of scroll 'back' button on the menu screen.
