The Panasonic DMP BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player Black

The Panasonic DMP BD60 1080p Bl-ray Disc Player Black is a highly respected, well reviewed and affordable blu-ray player for under $200. If you are looking to buy a blu-ray player, this one is a simple but excellent choice.

Before we get started, let me introduce myself. (Yes, that's me up there in the upper right-hand corner of this page.) I am not a blu-ray expert. I am a work-at-home-mom who has been thrust into the blu-ray world by a technology-loving husband and I have been forced to learn as we go. About one year ago, I started writing online about my blu-ray discoveries.

A couple of things that I have learned. Firstly, to turn to the experts and let them handle the truly technical stuff.  I read their reviews and recommend the excellent ones on my blu-ray pages. Secondly, to trust Amazon's customer reviews.  I take the time to carefully read all of the reviews of any product that I am buying and figure that if 105 people have given an item top star ratings, that is a pretty good indicator of the quality of an item. Of course, what they actually have to say about each item is important, too.

On this page you will find some expert recommendations and you will find some Amazon customer reviews from ordinary people like you and me.  At anytime you can click on the links to Amazon to read more there. Doing so will in no way obligate you to buy anything from Amazon.

So, with no further ado, I give you the  The Panasonic DMP BD60 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player Black and I wish you happy viewing!

A basic blu-ray player that plays in high quality. If that is what you are looking for, then Panasonic's DMP BD60 may be the blu-ray player for you.

Amazon Customer Reviews of this Blu-ray Player

"This Panasonic DMP-BD60 blu ray player is amazing and a part of their new series of blu ray players. Finally, a quality blu ray player at a reasonable price. Seems the long wait of inflated costs for a player is settling down. Here you pay a reasonable price for high quality." ~~ Barry, Boston, MA

"The Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu Ray DVD player is an excellent DVD player. It raises the bar on Blu Ray players that other manufacturers will have to surpass in order to be able to compete on quality and price." ~~ Knowledge Comes, But Wisdom Lingers

"Well, I did a lot of research before buying the BD60 from Panasonic and I believe it was a good move. I cannot agree with the previous reviewer today who stated that the unit loads in very short time, because mine does not. However, load time is not a feature that means a hill o' beans to me for a movie player. If pauses were happening during playback, that would be another story. The video and sound quality are excellent, which is what I expected. I have to say that the remote is also pretty good. I've played everything under the sun on it from old DVDs to blu rays with no problems. I would recommend it and would buy it again if I had to do it over." ~~ Lamar, Charlemont, MA

"I purchased this player to replace a Samsung BD-P2500 that was giving me major compatibility problems with Blu-ray discs, and so far haven't been disappointed. Picture quality on Blu-ray is stunning and I've had no compatibility issues thus far; upscaling on standard DVDs is great. VieraCast is a novel feature that could someday find greatness if Panasonic expanded support to include Amazon, Netflix and Hulu." ~~ B. Campbell, Richmond VA

"I just purchased the Panasonic DMP-BD60 a couple of days ago. My criteria for purchase were as follows: great reviews from amazon, sound and vision award winner for the BD60's predecessor product the BD35 and finally a great price." ~~ J. Simone, Lake Worth, FL

Would you love to receive the Panasonic DMP BD60 blu-ray player as a gift or are you holding out for a more expensive model?

This is a very affordable blu-ray player. I was looking for a player to be compatible with my Panasonic plasma tv and this fit the bill The Panasonic viera cast on the player means i can use one remote for the tv and the player as well as control all functions with one remote. The picture quality is very good with sharp detailed lines and full colour saturated images. Loading times seem reasonable as well, although i am still waiting for the time that a blu ray player loads as fast as an ordinary dvd player. One item i was a little disappointed with was lack of mutichannel analogue outputs on the player as my Yamaha receiver doesn't support any hdmi inputs. These multi channel outputs are only to be found on more expensive blu-ray players, but the inclusion here on a cheaper player would i have thought been a feather in Panasonc's cap. The player itself is very attractive looking in its plastic chassis and is extremely thin and light. Although very cheap at the price it doesn't feel like a cheap product at all. Sound quality in "normal" 5.1 ch stereo surround is very good indeed. All in all i would highly recommend this player for anyone looking for an affordable way into the blu-ray market.

With the BD60, Panasonic adds VIERA Cast online content access to their previous entry-level model, the DMP-BD35. You would think this makes an excellent Blu-ray Player even excellenter (yes, I know that's not a word), and it does. The BD60 excels in its Blu-ray Disc playback and is very good at DVD upconversion as well, passing difficult tests like the HQV benchmark discs with flying colors (as well as looking good on real movies).

sound-and-vision-magazineWell, here's a chance for me to ignore my advice about Amazon Customer Reviews. This magazine has poor reviews. However, I enjoy every single issue of Sound & Vision Magazineu> (my husband and I actually fight over who gets to read it first) and I think it is an excellent investment for anyone who is interested in the latest entertainment technology and gadgets.

I first read about the Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Disc Player through a review of three units in Sound & Vision and I found it to be a superb article about an affordable item.

Each and every month I look forward to reading the blu-ray movie reviews and recommendations. I know this magazine would be an amazing gift for anyone interested in the subject matter.

AMAZON CUSTOMER REVIEW:

"The set itself is phenomenal. I would describe myself as technically savvy and I'm very picky about these kinds of things. It has a wonderfully sharp, bright, smooth picture that an LCD can't touch. I honestly cannot imagine how much better a picture I could get on any other TV -- it's really about as perfect as is possible for anything to be in this world." ~ Socal Shopper
