Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3 Camera

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Camera
uses the AVCHD (MPEG-4/H.264) format, via AVCHD Lite, which stores less data than other formats and thus lets you shoot more minutes of HD motion images before running out of memory.

The world's first compact camera to feature Dolby® sound, the ZS3 records dynamic, true-to-life audio that brings out the power of the HD images. (Dolby is a trademark of Dolby Laboratories).

The ZS3 is equipped with an HDMI output terminal for direct transmission of digital picture and sound signals. Just connect the camera to an HDTV using a single HDMI mini cable (purchased separately), and it's easy to view beautiful HD photos and motion images.

The new Lumix ZS3 features 10.1-megapixels, a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens and 12x optical zoom, meaning it has added 2x optical zoom to the award-winning TZ-series camera, yet reduced its size.

This combined with a well-considered control interface, which includes a dedicated movie recording button on the camera's back panel, makes the ZS3 a hybrid model that performs admirably for both still and motion image capture.

Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3 Camera Features A Leica Lens

Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3 CameraToday, Panasonic is one of the largest producers of consumer electronics in the world. The company manufactures a wide selection of products, and has a policy of achieving 100% customer satisfaction.

The company joined with Leica, a German camera company, to produce still digital cameras. Panasonic is still a small player in today's digital market, and hopes that this alliance with Leica will allow both companies to take a large percentage of the digital camera market share.

The most recent series of Panasonic cameras consists of three main lines. The Lumix digital camera series is produced by Panasonic and uses high quality lenses provided by Leica. These lenses help capture very clear and bright photos.

Intelligent Auto Mode Adds Face Recognition

Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3 CameraThe Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Camera
also expands Panasonic's popular Intelligent Auto (iA) mode with the addition of Face Recognition--a feature that "remembers" faces from previous shots.

Once registered, if the face appears into the frame again, the camera will display the name specified for that person and prioritize focus and exposure so that the registered face is bright and sharply focused.

New this year to the ZS-Series, iA mode is also available in Movie Mode.

In Movie Mode, the ZS3, Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent handshake when using the high-powered zoom. Face Detection automatically detects a face in the frame and adjusts focus, exposure, contrast, and skin complexion so it turns out perfectly.

Customer Reviews

I am very happy with this purchase. I bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 to replace an old Kodak Easyshare camera--there is really no comparison between the old one and this new one!

Purchased this camera about a month ago. Very easy to use and takes great pictures. I haven't used the software that came with it yet so I can't speak about that, but overall I am very pleased with this camera.

I haven't had this camera for long, but so far it takes easy fabulous shots. Just point and click. The only issue I might have is some chatter noise on video when zooming, but a easy sacrifice for the quality videos and pics!

I've owned at least a dozen digital pocketcams from a variety of manufacturers and this takes the most beautiful pictures of any of them. If I could change one thing, it would be that the camera battery charges when the camera is plugged in (via USB) to the computer port to download pictures. Otherwise, perfecto!

Panasonic Is Establishing A Name In The Digital Camera World

Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS3 CameraWhile the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Camera offers basic exposure compensation, macro, flash, and self-timer modes, it will also automatically choose standard or tele-macro zoom.

The camera's Q menu offers options for LCD brightness, aspect ratio, picture size, intelligent exposure, white balance, ISO sensitivity, AF mode and burst shooting. Performance-wise it powers on and shoots in about 2.3 seconds. Focus time is 0.5 second in good light, and 1.1 seconds in dimmer conditions.

Slowly and steadily, Panasonic is establishing a name for itself in the digital camera world. This company, which has always believed in putting the customer's needs first, is sure to make a mark in this arena as well.
