Edible art!

For 15 years I have been making pancakes and bacon for my daughters every Saturday. Whoever is there in the morning gets fed, and it's not unusual to see five, ten or more hungry faces hovering around the skillet. They also get their choice of what they want their pancake to be. Here are some of my favorites.

Pancake Artwork of the Week!

"Shrimp Playing Poker"

Congratulations to Kenneth for his suggestion of "Shrimp Playing Poker". Since Kenneth is only 5' 4" I took some liberties with his suggestion. (what do you think Kenneth--good likeness?)

Hand Craftsmanship

The making of pancake art requires no special tools, molds forms or apparatus. More akin to Chinese brush painting, pancake art is created by a spontaneous gesture as the batter is poured or dripped freehand from a 4 oz measuring cup. Although the image may be enhanced with blueberries, chocolate chips, food coloring or bacon, it is the quality of the "pour" that ultimately determines the liveliness of the image.

Rick Krizman is a musician, composer, frustrated artist and the father of two incredible girls, all the more so because they love his cooking. (more)
