Panda Fun
The Panda Bear is most certainly one of the most famous and beloved of the world's endangered animals. Personally, I never was a huge fan of the panda until I saw them in person at a research center in China.
They are amazingly beautiful animals -- gentle, slow, and BIG eaters! The two pictures below are ones I took when I discovered these amazing animals in their native habitat.
In Chinese the panda is called "Da Xiong Mao", which means giant bear cat. Its scientific name means black and white cat-footed animal --Ailuropoda melanoleuca. It's been a scientific dilemma for a century; is it closer to a bear, a cat, or a raccoon? Finally using genetic research, scientists discovered that the panda is, in fact, a species of bear.
A giant panda can eat 12-38 kg of bamboo a day! And that's why you see the panda eating in so many photos -- it eats all day long!
This page is a celebration of the panda --pictures, videos, and panda products! Get ready for a very high adorable factor!

- I love Panda Bears, they are so cute with their black eyes. Nice educational lens and a beautiful job of putting it all together on this lens. - Susie

- Great lens - 5 *s and a favourite. I went to the Sichuan Panda Research Station and left with similar feelings about this wonderful animal. It felt like "walking on air" when I left an enclosure after I had a picture taken of myself "close up and personal" with one of them.

- We love pandas too - but the closest we get is having bamboo growing in the garden. It has not managed to attract any wild pandas yet....
