Panini Grills - The Best-Reviewed Ones

Ranked #6,720 in Food & Cooking, #116,122 overall

Looking at different panini grills? Here are some of the best-reviewed ones!

If you're looking for great panini grills, these are the ones that have gotten the best reviews from Amazon. (And since Amazon rules the world, it's a pretty good place to look for reviews of things. hahaha)

Now, some people think it's great to have a panini grill, and some people are ok with just using regular pans to take care of it. There's also the option of using an indoor grill that does a variety of different things. (That's what I use - I have one of the Foreman grills.)

Whatever you choose, think about your family size, the size of grill you can store and how often you'll use it.

In this lens, I'll break down the reviews of some of the more popular panini grills, but you can also check my Panini Maker lens to see grills sorted by price.

Emerilware Panini Maker - Great Reviews

Emerilware GC4009002 Electric Grill and Panini Maker

Amazon Price: (as of 02/16/2012)Buy Now
List Price: $99.99

This panini grill can actually do much more than make panini sandwiches. You can smoosh things into it, or open flat to have two cooking surfaces. (I'm thinking one side for meat, and one side for veggies?) All the components, except for the power source are dishwasher safe. Thank goodness! Because and easy cleanup is important!

One reviewer did note that there's not a timer on this grill. There's only a red light to indicate whether or not the grill is heated up enough. So, you may need to experiment a little before you get all the times right.

Some suggested this T-fal panini grill's price went up by $30-ish when Emeril's name went on it. Hmmm...? Still, if it's a good grill, it's a good grill.

Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler

Lots of great reviews!

Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press

Amazon Price: Too low to display (as of 02/16/2012)Buy Now
List Price: $90.00

This panini grill has 123 customer reviews, and according to those customers, is a 4.5-star product. Wow, that's pretty good!

Now, this is pretty much just useful for panini sandwiches. (Although, the description says you can use it for grilling other meats. And that may be the case, but it seems the primary use is for panini.) The plates don't come off, so it's not as easy as throwing them in the dishwasher. You'll actually have to towel them off, which is very easy to do, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! LOL.

Overall, if you're looking to make nice warm, gooey sandwiches, this one does it extremely well!

The DeLonghi Retro Panini Grill

Retro is supposed to be cool, right?

De'Longhi CGH800 Contact Grill and Panini Press

Amazon Price: $41.61 (as of 02/16/2012)Buy Now
List Price: $140.00

Whether retro is cool or not is irrelevant with this panini grill. What IS relevant is how many great reviews it received. This is a 4.5 star product according to many reviewers.

Pros: Most of the reviewers said it cooked their panini sandwiches very well. Nice grill marks on the outside, and hot food on the inside.

Cons: Some people complained that there's no on/off switch. In order to turn this one off, you have to unplug it. Quite inconvenient and a possible safety hazard.

A George Foreman grill

George Foreman GRP90WGR Next Grilleration Electric Nonstick Grill with 5 Removable Plates

Amazon Price: $79.99 (as of 02/16/2012)Buy Now
List Price: $149.99

While I spotlight this one in my Foreman Grills lens, I wanted to add it here too. Why? Because it's a 4.5 star product, and it received over 500 reviews! That's way more than any of the other grills.

The pros of this grill include: 5 removable plates (which means easy, dishwasher-safe clean-up), which makes this machine very versatile. You can cook panini sandwiches, meats, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and almost anything else you can think of. It even turns into a waffle maker.

Cons: Some reviewers said the waffle maker part of it did not cook the waffles very well. (Then again, some said their waffles came out great! So, who knows?) The electrical cord is a little short, which can make it tricky to cook on the main part of your counter top. (The Foreman grill that I own also has this issue.)

Foreman grills seem to get a bad wrap generally speaking, but this one really doesn't. Overall, people are very happy with it. And, if I didn't already have a foreman grill, this is the one I would choose. Good stuff!

Another option...

...grill pan!

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick Panini Pan and Press

Amazon Price: $49.94 (as of 02/16/2012)Buy Now
List Price: $110.00

This is a stovetop panini press pan, which is different than a regular panini press or grill because it actually goes on your stove. The great thing about purchasing one of these is that it's easy to store, and there's not one extra thing sitting on your counter.

It seems like it makes great panini sandwiches and also goes a good job of grilling chicken and other meats. Clean-up is easy too!

This could be a good option for you if you don't have a lot of counter space, or if cooking panini is your main goal. It's just not as versatile as some of the other indoor grills, so that is something to consider.

These panini grills are not your only options.
