Paper Rosettes and Flowers for Holiday Decorations and Crafts

This tutorial is for the paper rosette you may have seen at the Claremont Farmer's Market on Paperfacets' display table. Below is easy step-by-step photos and instructions.

First application for this pattern was for cards and after a few dozen cards, I started thinking about new ideas and applied the pattern to bigger designs for hanging and party ideas.

This pattern has an eye catching pop, stands up and has a soft spin in the center. Most viewers like it instantly. I started making the big paper flower rosette decorations after I found round notepaper at the discount store. I have a few sheets left that I will use for this tutorial.

Since 2002 I have made paper rosettes and medallions for cards and much more. I mainly fold in the tea bag folding style, but all paper folding crafts catch my eye. I am especially drawn to folded paper that can be used for something; the greeting card, bookmark, or the gift tag.

Browse further down. The whole family will enjoy making these paper rosettes.

Paper Flower Idea #3

use half circle for paper rostteThe discount stores such as Big Lots! and Ross carry packages of the double sided cardstock for scrapbooking. Make only four circles and cut them in half. No need to fold in half. Fold the half circle as in the first instructions above.

The blue mobile below was made with the half circles.

Tips on Cutting Out Circles

Make paper flowerMaking the circles is the hardest part of this paper rosette.

If you want to make small flowers of paper, use a purchased round punch from the craft store. Take a 40% store coupon. A circle of 1 7/8 inches will produce a 2 3/4 inch rosette. This size is good for greeting cards.

For party decorations and home decor, a circle 5 inches and larger works well. A bowl or plate is good to trace the circles and hand cut. Use decorative scissors to give them a lacy edge. Edge the circles with pinking shears and a paint brush tip marker, making a carnation effect.

Party decoration at right is paper from the 99cent Store.

Thank you for the share. I never have been good at arts and crafts, but I guess that's because I haven't had any well written "show me how instructions" until I read your post. Thanks again
