How To Make Things With Paper Mache
The Paper Mache Recipe
* Newspapers - Older paper is recommended
* Water
* Flour
* A mixing bowl
* Paint - Tempera
Depending on what you want to create, you will need supplies to build your paper mache project. Some of these items might include: balloons, 2 liter bottles, plastic grocery bags filled with crumpled paper.
Directions:
1. Tear the newspaper into long strips (1-2 inches wide)
2. In the mixing bowl, mix water and flour until you have a thin paste to cover your newspaper stips
3. You will then coat your newspaper strips and place them on the item you chose to use (ex balloon).
4. Cover your item with 2-4 layers of newspaper and let dry completely.
5. After is is dry, you can add another layer and dry again.
6. You can then pop the balloon if you used a balloon and paint your creation!
Paper Mache Tips
When choosing your object to cover with paper mache, remember that you will have to remove your object when your project is complete. You might want to cover your object with plastic beforehand. You can use a plastic bag for this.
If you do not like the smell of the mixture, add a touch of cinnamon to make it smell sweet.
Paper mache is very messy! Make sure that you cover your work area.

- One of my fondest memories in a paper mache craft project I did in high school art. It was a giraffe. I loved making and painting it. This brought back memories. ***** and a lensroll to my Best Online Referencelens. I hope to make something similar with my grandchildren.
