It is a real neat story, and a great design. However, it can be a little difficult to follow. I have a couple simplified designs on the site as well.
I hope this helps, and hope the kids have fun!

Yes! It's Saturday!!! That means two things are likely. First, that you have more time to make a plane, and second, that you probably had pizza delivered last night.
I know it is stretching the limits of a "paper" airplane, but the concept is just too much fun to pass up!
As a bonus, chasing a pizza-scented airplane around the yard may just stimulate your appetite enough to finish the leftovers!

Well, for those fans that are still mobile enough, here is a plane with David's mug plastered on it. Interesting concept, and perhaps you can use photoshop to replace his with yours? Why not try it? Your challenge is to remake it into a better plane. You must use all the folds currently in the plan, but you can add whatever folds you feel you need to make it fly right.

Just back from a couple days vacation in Florida, and learned a valuable lesson. When wading in the water, you want to shuffle your feet - so that you don't step on a Ray! The Sting in their tail is PAINFUL, but if you do get stung, you need to soak your foot in hot water immediatly - it will greatly reduce the pain.
I couldn't find a paper airplane that is directly inspired by the Ray's streamlined shape, but the Upside Down Glider is an interestingly close design.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. How much does a Yen weigh?
Hello Again!
Here is a nice website with ALOT of paper airplane designs. Unfortunatly, it is all in japanese, although I think everyone will be able to figure out how to make the planes.
The only difficult thing is the weight of the coins for these planes. You are supposed to tape/glue a 1-yen coin to the nose. Now for those of you who don't know, a 1-yen coin is made of aluminum! So it is very light, and we have no comparable coinage over here in the US of A.
So the only thing I can think of is to increase the size of the plane, to where the weight of a penny or a dime is the correct coinage to use. So make your way to Kinko's and expirement with different enlargments!
Have a great weekend!

1. Unusual Lifting Body Design
It's been years since I have experimented with a lifting body paper airplane. Almost a flying wing, the idea is that the shape of the body creates lift.
This link is to site that you can print off on cardstock a model of an actual lifting body airplane created by Barnaby Wainfan.
Called the Facetmobile, it is very unusual. You can make either a static display model or flying model, and I used 110 lb paper cardstock for this.
The flying technique is unusual as well, and will take some practice but it flies well!

The Smasher!
DECA - The first ten
1. The Smasher!
Here is a great plane. The SMASHER! It is a nice even flyer, and what really surprised me is how low of a stall speed it has when flown upside down.
We were flying this back and forth and one time it struck the ceiling, reversed and inverted itself. It was barely moving but maintaned an even steady flight back to me. COOL!
You will see more planes on this page. It is a new site by Pat, and he has alot of great info on paper airplanes in there. Go ahead and browse around!
Have a great weekend!

Joseph Palmer always does great directions, and his Gullwing is no exception. Lots of folds, but he makes it easy to follow!
Have fun flying this and have a great weekend!

1. Fly the B-17!
Here is a neat profile laminate design of the B-17. Not too many instructions, so you will have to use your judgement. You will have to use some coinage to weight it down. It sure makes a nice sized plane! I printed it off on 110lb card stock.
Enjoy!

1. AH-Fighter Glider
Here is a most interesting design by Adarsh Pettah of India. It utilizes staples and 110lb cardstock, making it a tougher plane. It also has multiple wing choices, which takes it into a whole new class of paper airplane.
Check out the website and enjoy!
